In 1937 or 38 an aircraft mechanic named "Corrigan".
He did something considered by some to be heroic.
What did he do??
What was the name given to him in the after math.
Why the name??

it actually landed him a job with American Airlines as Co Pilot.

Before the US was actually involved in WW2 the German's had submarines off our coast that sank a lot of ships
The problem was that they burned so much fuel just to get here, a refueling ship was specialty designed & it had a weird name as well.

What was it.??
What was the funny name.???

Douglas Corrigan he was supposed to make a transcontinental flight across the USA, but wound up in Ireland. He was called "wrong way corrigan" after that, and it became kind of a catch phrase for someone going the wrong way on a trip or something like that. Of course he was not really that stupid, he intentionally went the "wrong way" because he couldn't get clearance to make the trans-atlantic flight.

Does anyone remember the name of the strange and unique little tracked vehicle used by the Germans in WWII? Can you describe it?

In WWII, the Russians trained dogs carrying bombs to run under tanks and blow up. It didn't work. Why?

Dogs can't identify each army's tanks. They blow up both side's tanks.

Pretty close. They trained them on Russian tanks which used diesel, Germans used gas (or vice versa, don't recall) so the dogs would only attack the ones that smelled right to them.

Another worlds largest plane. Russian this time. The monstrosity had 8 engines.
In addition to the weird normal use.
It also had another use even more off the wall & I think the only plane ever used for that purpose.
What would that be???

They had a "seaplane" that used ground effect over water to fly at low levels only.

I had seen photos of that before, but never really read the "history". Thanks for broadening my horizons, crash!

How do you know that when the Russians pay for something they want to make sure they use all of it?
