nice truck. Light duty is light duty. High expectations of a light truck doesn't make them super new trucks.....truck is a truck as to a spec is a spec... the concept of "super and new" is the same as was 30 years ago...

If you do some digging, there are a couple of Freightliner crew cab 4x4's on truckpaper.com. That site does not have a quick method for finding 4x4's. I don't usually peruse the International adds as there are so many models.

You really need to do some homework on wanting the extra seating and 4x4. Your truck weight may dig into your GVCW more than you want. Watch the gear ratio too if you are looking for some decent highway speeds. Most of the used 4x4's are former utility rigs. Low power so some hotshot does not rip them up.

My FL70 ext cab with a 12' steel bed weighs in at about 13500 lbs for example. Take that kind of truck weight, your expected trailer and load weight and figure out what your plates are going to run.

I understand, having to often as not needing to pull my FL70 out of the barn with my tractor due to the mud that 4x4 is nice. Could you get by with an air locker? Maybe spend ~2k for some drop down chains like the school buses up north use?

I probably would not need 4 wheel drive, but it would sure be nice to have and the extra ground clearance would be nice to.

If you're going to pull a heavy load, do it the White way. As most everyone has said, you need to look beyond a pickup. A Ford F-450 pickup is rated at 33,000# GVWR but it won't be enough truck for your weights. You're in the International 4900, Ford F-650, Chevrolet 6500 territory. Lots of used beverage trucks equipped with air brakes and fifth wheels. If you bought a truck with air brakes you can use an air/electric brake controller for use with trailers with electric brakes.

I think this is the truck the OP is going to need. I believe it's rated to tow about 20 tons or so. Engine is rated in the 550hp range I think. When I win the lottery, this is going to be my first big purchase lol!!

I believe if you look at the specs, that truck appears to be somewhat "derated".
