Re: Thanks Murph!

Another 'free financing' deal some make is free for x months, then if the ballance isn't paid off, the intrest that has been accrueing for the entire period is added and due.
In this case, you only get the benefit if you pay off before the incentive period is over...otherwise you get hit with lots of interest costs.

Re: Thanks Murph!

Kevin,

In your case you got free financing. But what I am trying to say is somebody paid the finance company for the free financing to you. Ford and possibly the dealer paid it or Ford alone. Did you ask the salesperson if you could take a cash discount instead of the financing?

I can tell of the same basic story where a friend had made a deal and then free financing came out. But he was also able to select from a $2,000 dollar cash back also if he paid cash. So then in that case is the financing free? In my opinion I don't think so. What has happened is Ford decided they needed to move some cars and they dropped their price, went to the finance company and found out how much it would cost them to finance for 48 months and then adjusted the price back to the original to cover for financing. It is very possible you could have gotten that vehicle for less. How much less I don't exactly know and situations change things for everybody.

Tires for these tractors I\'m looking at...

Thanks BigDave...Does anyone else have experience with the R4 tires on these type tractors. I did have my mind made up on turf, as so much of my mowing will be finish mowing in the lawn, lots of trees to turn around...4 thousand feet of 4 rail fencing etc. The water table here close to Blood River on Kentucky Lake is high, and it sure is wet alot of the time...just don't want to "tear up" my lawn...I realize the R4's would be better for the FEL, but all we are really going to use that for is pushing horse manure around (occasionally a little ground work). Anyone have experience mowing in fairly soft ground with the R4's...Thanks again for all the input..Capper

murph,

I beg to differ on GMAC - it is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation. I don't know about the others.

Re: Tires for these tractors I\'m looking at...

I have the R4's. I like them alot but do have some trouble with wet lawns. However, the weight of your tractor will also dictate damage to your lawn. In my case with a newer lawn and when damp, both my R4's will leave indents and so will my neighbors turf tires. I have a TC29D and he has a John Deere 955. About the same tractor. I was also told that the R4's in tight turns will do less damage than the turf will in tight turns. This was proven to me by my dealer. But overall the turf will do less damage as far as ripping grass and roots.

Re: Homles..the 4310

Capper, Take your time in the selection process. I had the L3130 and JD 4310 to where the JD was $600 more expensive. I was using R4 tires and a larger/stonger FEL on the Kubota as well. My decision became based on physical size of the tractor as I have some"close in" work I plan to do near the house, as well as some barn work with stalls. I would agree with your idea to actually see and drive the Grand L before you commit to anything. Whatever way you go, you will be getting a fine machine. Good luck

Holmes..if you don\'t mind me asking..

It sounds like you got the prices more "comparible" than I have at this juncture...what did you have to give for the JD 4310 (tractor alone, and if you wouldn't mind, let me know the way you "set it up") I have the same situation with alot of finish mowing (close to the house, trees, and fencing), as well as stalls to muck, so I think this is an apples and apples thing.

I want to equip the Deere, if thats the one I get, with FEL and a 72" belly mower. Is that how you got yours equiped, and if so, I would appreciate your letting me know what your ground floor price was.

The Deere dealer seemed upfront, and told me (supposedly) what percentage profit he was making on both the tractor and the FEL.

Once again, my price quote on it is $21,900 for the 4310, with the 430 loader and the 72 " mid mount mower with mid PTO...

Do you reckon that's in the ballpark, or did you get a better deal than that?

It winds up being about $2400 bucks more than the Kub L3130 with bucket and 72" mid mower....thanks for the input, Capper

Re: Homles..the 4310

Capper, Sent you an email with more info. I did not look at MMMs and did not get a mid-PTO and my deal got all "packaged up" as the price negotiation occurred. In general I would bet they have some room left to work with you particularly if you tell them what they are up against $$ wise. Again I think both are great machines and if you can get the prices more in line then it would come down to machine "feel" and confidence in the dealer.

Got it, thanks H!

I sent you an EMail just now, but, wanted to post here as well. I did tell the Deere salesperson the price and setup of the Kubota. He didn't do anything to "badmouth" the orange, but did say he felt JD HD's were a bit better. I haven't tried to re-do the price quote from him, just left it open and said I'd be in touch after I drove the L 3130's when they came in to McKeel here in Murray. He, of course, said I'd look better on Green (actually, probably correct)..

I wil try to contact you sometime to visit about it further...Capper
