Trying to decide Kubota BX25 or 1025R

   / Trying to decide Kubota BX25 or 1025R #91
I have been emailing back and forth with the Deere dealers and it looks like they are not going to be doing any dealing. I think the deere will be about 4k+ more and I just don't think I can do that. Tickles me the wrong way when Kubota is willing to setup and deliver to for free (at least included in the price of the tractor) while the deere wants 350 for delivery, 469 freight and 100 setup on top an already more expensive tractor. I just don't think I could justify that even if I do like the deere better.

I even sent him the quote from Kubta that is 4k cheaper... I know it isn't all about price but 4-5k, maybe it is more about the delivery I don't know.

I am also trying to refinance the house in a year so the higher payment will be a factor
Sounds to me that your decision is made... welcome to the orange club?

Hahah if only it were that simple and I wish it was. I called the dealer again and I told them I would come in on sat. They have both the BX and 1025r there, but he said there is some tractor fair going on and supposedly a better deal.

I also did some numbers and the difference on just the TLB with tax is only $1850 difference 1025r vs BX25D. The John Deere implements are more expensive and they are charging the "fees" So I would be willing to finance just the TLB and then buy the other stuff later. ie thumb, canopy, box blade. But no way I paying for delivery or any extra "fees" when the Kubota has that in the price of the tractor. I also found a nice frontier rotary for half price (have to check it out) so that will save some money

Basically I am probably willing to pay the difference because I do like the additional features of the 1025R but I am not willing to pay the difference than fees, delivery etc.

We will see what kind of deal they are going to give at the dealer this weekend. Wife and I are really gonna drive both and make a decision on Saturday.

Question why does deere have a "469 Freight fee" but Kubota does not. I understand you pay fees and have to put stuff together but why make it extra? Does Kubota not have freight and arrives on the truck/train ready to go? $350 to deliver a 20k+ tractor to my house 25 miles while Kubota is farther away and included? Come on Deere

The dealer sells both Kubota and John Deere, or the BX is used?

It would have been awesome to operate them side by side. Even if one was used (presumption).

I'm surprised the difference is only $1,850. For that small of a difference, financed, for 60 months at 0% is only $31 a month. Of course, that's still a fair chunk of money and would buy the thumb, canopy, and box blade. $2K is a heck of a lot easier to swallow than $4K or $5K, just for the machine.

Please, report back after getting to run them, side by side. Of course, we will want to know the year, hours, and any other details that are pertinent.

****, I'm jealous you get to try them both at the same place, the same day!!!!! That's excellent. Try everything!

Don't forget, you don't have to buy the extras from John Deere. Land Pride makes most of their stuff in green. Woods is also another popular manufacturer. When it comes to stuff like the box blade, there are many good manufacturers. There are other thumb options, too, but I don't have a thumb, yet, so I can't comment on those. Same with the canopy.

They just sell Deere, but bought one to compare on site according to sales. I thought it was at the dealer I went to last weekend but they moved it for the tractor fair. I was disappointed the Bx wasn't there, but my fault I should have called again to cofirm. Turns out the quote he originally gave me was better than I thought and gonna go check out the fair. Basically all the John Deere dealers in my area are all the same dealer and supposedly they don't compete. But like I said their quotes have been different.

How I really started looking at the numbers is when I called oregon to get the "no tax deal" I found out that the price is actually cheaper here with tax haha. I would have to borrow a friends truck and spend a saturday to pick it up. Friend has already asked to borrow my tractor I don't own yet also so borrowing the truck is risky =)

I also had no idea landpride makes them in green, I will have to look into that and that might actually be a plus for the deere column. Finding that almost new rotary mower for basically half price is also a plus for deere.

I attached a cheat sheet (tax is 8.7%) that I came up with based on the quotes. I'm no math professor so correct me if I'm wrong, but you can see the one "freight fee" adds $7 per month. Maybe I'm just being a cheap ***, but that adds up when you include the delivery charge, setup fees and the implement price differences.

While I did qualify for the kubota financing I have no idea if I qualify for the john deere so this whole thread might have just been all for fun :cool2:

I will def report back about the trip to the dealer with both machines and we will see what kind of deal they can give me (and if I qualify)

States are actively targeting people buying big ticket items like tractors out of state and failing to pay the applicable use taxes that are due. I haven't followed it that closely, but people are getting burned on this now. As I recall it frequently involves reporting for financed machines since the location of the machine is necessary since it's the secured item on the loan....something along those lines.

Well you have had almost a month of talking, dealer visiting and advice, time to tell us your decision. The weeds aren't getting any shorter.

Life and multiple deals taught me there is a moment when everything will line up and you need to say "yes" so you keep the karma alive and a good business relationship going. If one haggles too long or too much it can sour future business dealings. They are going to drive about the same because they are substantially the same machine. I would buy one or the other at this meet and greet coming up but that's just me.

To be fair we still haven't closed the house and that is the reason I haven't purchased yet. Not to brag but I got money set aside burning a hole in my pocket. Soon as we sign I am buying a tractor, signing the paper work for the 40x60 pole building and getting a ductless heat pump/ac installed in the house. We are suppose to sign today but I haven't heard anything. This short sale has been horrible
