Trying to decide Kubota BX25 or 1025R

You'll find a lot of capability in either machine. The one thing that bothers me about both is the small rear tires and resulting limited Cat. 1 3 point lift range. That was what pushed me to a 2 series (and the position control and personal bias pushed me to JD).

Lol @ personal bias... but honest!

I'm baffled why no one is mentioning the massey ferguson gc1720 or gc1710.

Price should be less than either kubota or jd yet premium quality and better lifting weight than kubota.

But don't take my opinion .
Just test drive one and you'll be surprised.

After reading your post I called the Massey dealer and the price would be close or about the same with the rebates kubota has going on now. I do like the gc1710 and the sales guy actually showed interest in wanting to sell me a tractor, but I don't think the dealer service would be there. They are a small shop (he said) and will not deliver or pick up for warranty etc. They also have a small service, basically he said they are a feed store that sells tractors. He said last year they sold 14 tractors and this year they can't keep them in stock and already up to 50. I don't think the store has caught up to the business yet.

The main thing that is swaying me to kobuta is right now is I don't have a truck and the dealer will deliver with a full take of diesel along with a 2 hour session on how to drive it. Then for warranty they will pick up the tractor. They also just extended the 0% financing to 72 months with 10% down which is nice.

While issaquah kubota isn't the closest the sales man seems like he knows a lot about the tractors and wants the sale. Does anyone have any experience with them in the area? Even if they don't service it I have 2 other dealers that are closer they just won't meet the price

Not to sway you but JD dealer may be able to match the 72 month but zero down , but you should call. They offered me 72 with 10% but got 72 with zero in the end. But do what makes you happy! You can't go wrong!

I think you are missing something very imortant . . Sold 14 last year and already 50 this year. Think about it . . Why are people choosing massey product instead of the others ??? And what they have for service staff when they sell 14 and what they have when they sell 60 or 70 will be a whole different picture.

Morning to ya Hurricanoday...

I'm new to modern day tractors as well and bought a BX25 back in December. I went through the same fun / frustration you're going through now. I'll throw a couple comments and then will link you to an earlier thread...

1. Mahindra - If I were considering one, it would be a MAX, not an EMAX. Yeah, they cost more but go take a look at them and ride them. The eMax looks really cluttered and cramped compared to the Max. That's not a vote specifically for the Mahindras, just my personal observation of the two lines.

2. You're going to want a boxblade for that driveway. They're $500 - $600 bucks. Ground have ruts in it? You might want a tiller as well. That's another $1500 - $2000. Oh wait, you'll be needing a landscape rake to clean all the crap out of the yard after you till it. That's another $500'ish. Gonna make burn piles? You simply cannot appreciate how helpful having forks on the front are for piling up the brush. Get chain hooks welded to your bucket as you'll use those as well. Point is, if you're planning on doing all these kind of things yourself either have the extra cash on hand or finance it now. I don't like having debt, but it is worse having the tractor without the implements you need and not enough cash to buy them later. Plus, the more you buy upfront, the more you're dealer can shave off the price. One other thing on this point, I have since realized that craigslist is not that great for 4ft wide implements - just not many for sale there compared to the bigger stuff.

3. Get the quickhitch - get the quickhitch - get the quickhitch. That said, make sure your implements work with it (another reason to do this all at one time).

4. Quick Attach - that's on the front end for swapping between the bucket and the forks. It's usually another $150 but small money in the scheme of things.

5. Go bigger? Hmm.. Double edged sword there. If the machine is too small, it leads to a bad case of buyer's remorse - especially if you finance it. At the same time, the smaller units mow around the house much easier. For me, 90% of the time I use the tractor to mow the lawn so my BX25 is perfect for me.

I could go on, but I posted a lengthy comment in the following thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ce-first-tractor-post4413245.html#post4413245

Hope it helps,
JFoy

I don't think I'm missing anything, the massey seems like a great tractor but I'm sure the other tractors are selling like crazy also.

The dealer while I'm sure good is pretty far away, the salesman admits they are a feed store and don't really have the service yet. He even said they are training a guy that just finished school. They do not deliver and they will not pick it up for warranty stuff. Even if I had a truck those two things seems like some great selling points. Not to be a super nitpick but it took him 2 days to get the estimate. I'm sure they are just really busy.

I got a quote from the john deere and it is about 4k more than the kubota. While I'm sure all the tractors are great and they each will do a great job while having their own plus/minus, the one kubota dealer is the one offering to deliver with a session on operating the tractor and to pick up for warranty.

I think the dealer with great service is pushing me to kobuta not the brand if that makes sense. If the massey would do that I think I would go with massey. Still going to go walk into the john deere before making my final decision.

Why does everyone care so much that the tractor doesn't function well at idle? Doesn't seem to be a big selling point to me unless I'm missing something with my lack of tractor knowledge. I didn't know people go around doing work at idle.

No idea - it is not a big deal at all. I always come up from idle to do anything anyway so I never paid much attention to it. Even my Mini Ex works better above idle, as does my MX series. I won't never let this is be a concern personally. Some says it uses more fuel but if I am worrying about that little bit of fuel after spending 20K on a machine I have bigger issues to worry about.....

I still haven't bought a tractor yet as it is a big decision and I know both tractors are good. I actually like the John Deere and think it is probably a more capable tractor (and it is green) but the dealership won't even deliver or agree to pick it up/deliver for warranty work while the kubota dealer says they will. Also the deere dealer is saying the kubota dealer is lying about free pick up and delivery.

So besides the deere probably being a more capable tractor it is more expensive and the kubota being cheaper with pick up and delivery. I also get the feeling the Deere dealers feel I should buy it because it is a "deere" if that makes sense. I also think Kubota has the better financing deal and cheaper implements.

One deere dealer has both a bx25 and 1025r in stock and I plan on going to visit to check them both out side by side.

help :cool2:

Look at them both and just test them the best you can at the dealer and get the one YOU like the most. I know it is easy to say but a little more money over the life of the loan to have the one you really want is worth it. More than once I bought the 'cheaper" item and later regretted it. Then later sold the cheaper one (at a loss) to get what I really wanted in the first place.....
Both are good machines and there is a good chance that neither one will ever need warranty work
