I have bought many from HF and had good luck. They run $12 or so. I put my rear ballast on one and its bigger with no issues.

I bought some 10" pneumatic wheels from TSC a few years back on sale for $10 each to make a cart. Of the 4 wheels I bent 3 in the first day.

One nice idea I saw on a steel counter weight such as yours is to weld on 4 pieces of pipe to the corners that will accept casters.

Chris

Have you wheeled it about in your garage or on a cement floor.??

I am looking for a dollie that works. Can I actually trust a $12 one from HF.??

Can anyone point me to other dollies that work. Northern Tool.??

I need one quick but I don't want to go through this again.!!

I feel your pain on the junk being foisted upon us anymore. I bough commercial moving dollies for this kind of thing..Not cheap, but you don't have to worry about them.

Where did you buy them and what model.??

Did you roll it into something that caused a side load??

Wow! Glad you did not get hurt! I just looked at it on tractor supply also...does not look too strong in picture!!

Why not get one of these from Northern Tool? Lay it down and use the handle to move your weight box where you want it. Cut off the floor flange if you don't need it.

I used "Wheel Dollies" from Northern. All steel, steel casters. Rated at 1000 lbs, which I'd guess was either conservative or correct.

Northern Industrial Auto Wheel Dollies Pair, 1000-Lb. Capacity Each | Wheel Dollies | Northern Tool + Equipment

Not cheap at $70 per pair, but they've worked well for me for all sorts of things, including snowblower & FEL storage. Also, since they're steel, I suupose they could be welded on to something.

These are what I am zeroing in on. Wait, not these. These.....http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200349393_200349393

Thanks.

Been using them for years. I actually put 4 of them under my dads Corvette tires to store it. And yes, I wheel them around daily. Just put my FEL bucket on one yesterday when I switched over to the snow plow. I had a 55 gallon drum of Tire Ballast on one just a month ago. I wheel them around daily. Not one single issue.

I have 8 total. 4 are the small ones like these. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93888
4 are the larger ones like these. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=38970 (these are on sale in my store as of yesterday for $14)

Thanks Chris.

I'll order today from HF.

Not sure why mine crumbled the way it did.?? Yes, the casters are pretty flimzy and as I checked the wheels for "rollage" (there's a new word for ya) they all felt sticky and gummed up. I swept the floor just a couple of days before this happened.

We'll see how tsc handles it.

If you do not have a HF close its not worth ordering them. The postage will kill you. I would try moving supply house or just buy a 2x4 and 4 quality casters and make you a custom dolly to fit your application. That is what I did for my 2 bottom plow and 5' Bush Hog. Cheap to make and work great. I also made a custom dolly for my snow plow but welded it up. Here is a pic.

You may also try Lowes, or even Uhaul for a quality dolly.

I bought the auto wheel dollies from HF for about $40 per pair on sale, giving me 8 cast iron casters. Threw the dollies on the scrap pile and used the good cast iron casters for a dolly I made out of 2x4's. Works perfectly, even with over 800 lbs on it.
