I bought a Tarter tiller from TSC a couple weeks ago and I finally got to try it out this weekend. It does a great job. It is a 60 inch tiller. I connected ot to my 5105 first . I had to shorten the pto shaft 3 inches to get it to fit. A sawz-all with metal cutting blade made short work of that. I really need a 72 inch on the 5105 although only about half a tire tread with was visible. I had to shorten the pto shaft another 2 inches to connect it to my 3005 which is the tractor I primarily was going to use it on anyway. The biggest problem I have encountered is fastening the slip clutch hub to the gearbox shaft. There is the big plastic safety bucket, it has 2 access holes top and bottom to get a wrench or socket on. The bolts on the slip clutch hub interfere with getting a wrench on the nut end of the bolt that clamps the slip clutch to the gearbox shaft. It was a metric bolt with 18mm head. I replaced it with a 7/16x2 1/2 bolt. When I tray to tighten the bolt it destroys the lock washer. I cant get the slip clutch clamped tight enough to prevent play between the drive line and the gearbox shaft. The pto drive line has the push button for the tractor end instead of a collar which makes it a PITA to hook up. I found another pto shaft online that I may get specifically for the 5105. The top gearbox output seal leaks some but I expected that after reading where these tillers can sit int the lot for months and dry out. I got a service plan when I bought it.

Good for you- I bought a 60" tiller from Agri Supply on line. We are still covered with snow and the ground is frozen. Everytime I go to use the tractor to plow or bring in wood- there is the tiller - shiny and clean!

I think I would have bought one locally but the three TSC's within driving did not have one in stock - too early. Nice unit you have there!

Be sure you have oil in the gearboxes and check the gearbox vent plugs to see if they have a checkvalve in them and that it is working. Ted from Everything Attachments has an excellent video on YouTube that demonstrates how to measure and cut a pto shaft for any tractor.
