I never heard of atwoods before, but looking at their store locations I can see why.

Ain't much else but TSC here, unfortunately.

Tractor Supply was one of those stores that I was very excited about when moving out here. One of the first things that I did when visiting here was to just walk through the store and get excited at all the cool stuff they had!! Kid in a toy store type of thing.

In the six years that I've lived here, I've become totaly disapointed in TSC. They advertise something, but don't have it in stock. They are terrible about keeping stock on hand and I can't figure out who they focus on. Maybe the horse people as they have lots of stuff for them. I can't find greese fittings when I want them, I couldn't find slime the last time I was there and the final straw was when I was looking for hydraulic oil. They were all out.

Fortunately, just a few blocks away, Atwoods moved into an old Walmart building. They are well laid out, have ten times the stuff that TSC does and their prices are better. They have everything TSC does, plus allot more!!!!!

Now when I drive past TSC, I look to see how many vehicles are out front. Allot of the time, there isn't one. Atwoods is always busy with dozens and dozens of vehicls in the parking lot. My biggest complaint might be how far I have to walk to get into the store.

It might just be a local thing, but TSC has burned allot of bridges and doesn't seem to care.

Eddie

Our experiences are very similar. I rarely go there anymore, the coop or various equipment dealers get my business. I wound up writing them a letter outlining my concerns but never heard back. So, I suspect the problem is at the corporate level.

BTW the DH thing reminds me of their entry into the tractor market w/ the Minot tractor. Dont think that went anywhere either.

Power to the consumer!

Only we can right the wrong practices of the mass merchants, they take advantage of the consumers, they play a number game, they hook a few but some get away, don't be fooled, this website is helpful and informative very useful ,like a sharp chisel. Thanks for the feedback. DAN THE WANABE FRAMER.

Re: Power to the consumer!

Had me baffled until I looked at Powerstroke's other posts. They were in the Dark Horse / TSC threads. I think he's saying that TBN members are a positive influence informing customers about the unscrupulous actions of some companies. If I'm correct I agree, if I'm not correct then I remain baffled. MikeD74T

Re: Power to the consumer!

I think your right and well said.I assume TBN has grown rapidly. I know I have told several people of it.
But I have said in the past, just as in 'real' life we need to be honest and also realize people have real feelings here. I have seen many postings where someone has had to make comments that I am sure discourages people from posting pics and their ideas. Luckily these are few and far between.

I think you guys are right. His "Power to the Consumer" post belonged with this thread, so I merged the two. And that's also the only way I know of to have a thread with posts with two different titles.:D

As an infrequent visitor to Tractor Supply in the US, I have found that they have the marketing pitch down pat but fail on the sales and support of a good retailer. Dark Horse would have been successful and allowed them to charge a premium over the other folks distributing cheap implements if they had truly stood behind them. Because they have not they have another failed product line and quite frankly unless they were down the block, I no longer see them as a "destination" on my trips.
