I assume you mean the "plug", round and flat with the metal ring around the underside mounting area. No I have not experienced your problem in any of the 3 times I have changed the oil in both of my mowers. Hopefully you are using new parts to replace both plugs when you are putting everything back together.

I'm talking about the oil filler cap (part #15, sealing cap 30) located under the Pulley. It's a press-in cap. I was told by the Tufftorq service technician that I can reuse it. My point is that when I try to press the cap down flush with the case, it pops back up slightly and doesn't seal. I don't understand why the pressure under the cap is not released by the vent valve when I press down the cap.

Yep, we're talking about the same plug..... I've never been able to reuse mine after removal, I usually bend the ring when prying it out. As for putting it back in, I usually have to bang the thing in with a wooden mallet because of the extremely tight fit. Sounds like your plug may be damaged. Hi great posts and pics, I have successfully re ground all 3 parts as discribed and fitted it all back with new 5w50 oil.
The problem I now have is that when I press the foward pedel I go backwards and vice versa.
can anyone help? Also is there any way to get extra tension on the drive belt.
its a ltr180 with a k46 axel.

You need to reverse the wedge part. See page 1 post # 4 part #8. It is one way in some and other way in others. When in wrong it reverses the pedal function.

Hi on my k46 I have a reservoir with low and full on, do I fill the oil to these or do I fill to the two holes where the magnet is?

Hi all,
i am about to start my k46 rebuild. Does anyone have dimensions for the shims used behind the two differentials in some previous repairs. I would like to add this mod while I have it apart.

The below transmission is not for my JD. However the part numbers for the hydraulic motors are the same and the valve body part # is only off by 2 digits. Anyone have any luck/tried to either replace the axles from our busted transmission or just use the internals from this cheaper one? Like many, very frustrated with this mower and even more upset that tuff torq has ripped opened the wound by jacking up prices over the last few years for replacement parts to new transmissions 1700.00 for an upgraded transmission! Absurd!

I purchased one of these
in the process of putting it back on the mower now, pulled the clips and swapped axles, pulled the pump and flipped the wedge over, and swapped input shaft will update how it went when i get her back on the mower.

will be a day or so, waiting on the sealant to cure before adding the new 5-50, thanks for all the info on this thread really helped me out !
