Tundra vs. Chevy

Truck Trend. Sales were off 14.7% on 2014 MY versus 2013 MY.

So if they rose 3% they are still off 11.7% from 2013.

Saying they are up 3% doesn't say shatttt. Up from what?

Chris

But they sold more trucks than Ford

Geico can save you 15% over other insurances.

Allstate will save you 20% over others.

Progressive will save you money over all others.

lies ad nauseum.

Huh??? Did you even look at the link? It wasn't a GM ad, that was from a site reporting sales, which BTW, happens to be the same numbers I saw on the USA Today website the other day.

I didn't say that it was an ad. I just used those quotes as examples of info that varies by whomever reports it.

I just can't trust 'statistics'. They are so easily manipulated.

That is the truth. Who knows what's real. Stats in percentages like I posted and others have posted can be easily manipulated. I'm as guilty as anyone for buying into it.

My opinion, GM made a big mistake by increasing the price of their truck, not once but twice. My truck stickered for $43k and a truck setup exactly like mine now stickers for $45k. There are stripped down work trucks that sticker for $42k, I've seen them. I thought my truck was high at $43k but the price increase was stupid on their part.

According to GM's own reporting numbers (see their website) Silverado sales were up 10.3% in 2014 versus 2013, and Sierra sales were up 14.9% for the same period. For 2015, Silverado is up 14.7% year to date over the same period in 2014, and Sierra up 6.4%. Not rocket science, it's just year over year comparisons like any company or industry does all the time.

2015 F-150 sales are still slightly constrained by production from what I read in the news last week, so I am not surprised if they are a little behind. The numbers should be more realistic once they are up to full speed.

Chris

A common joke about stats when I was in college was one about a guy who drowned crossing a river with a statistical average depth of 1 foot.

The first day of Stats1 the professor said "when doing statistics, the first question is what do you want the answer to be"
