Comparison Turbo Disadvantage

Adding a turbo to the same sized engine increases HP without going to a larger size motor. Hence the same sized series tractor but the turbo model has more HP. I work for an ag equipment manufacturer and they have been using turboed Cummins engines for several decades in their machines. I have only heard of a couple of failures literally. Turbos are very reliable. And an easy way to add power. B.

Turbos are cool, but add complexity and breakdowns..(just ask ford). What attitude are you running at? Vary much? No real reason to have a turbo if you never leave sea level...original HP remains original HP.

I am running the tractor at an elevation of 1200 to 1300 feet

I think you will be looking at around 4% loss from altitude.

I feel the only disadvantage to a turbo is the added cost, in many instances a non-turbo version is not available..
Turbos increase HP, reduce emissions and improve power density (more power from the same cubic inches).
I installed a turbo on my Ford 1720 Compact Tractor because it was struggling with my 60" snow blower.
My tractor no longer boggs down and I no longer need to use the clutch excessively to allow the engine to catch up.
