I've a Cabelas branded TYM SCUT, T254HST, (LM25 Cabelas model).
Since owning the little 3 cylinder, I have had a rattle, flapping noise. Mainly at low speed and idle (but might be only because I couldn't hear it over engine hydraulic whine).
I finally figured what was causing it. The little 4x8" heat shield between muffler and the starter. It is only held on from firewall side and can vertically flap.
When I repaired the muffler bracket, I added an angle of aluminum that I had laying around. Ended the noise. Yes transfers some heat, but it won't break off now.
and it reinforces the muffler too.
