I've been extremely happy with my Tym-built Mahindra 2540 which has 115 hours on it now. I would buy another (Tym) in a heartbeat. The E-Series Deere and L-Series Kubota are nice machines but seemed smaller and lighter and had less features and lift capacities. But for some people, those aspects may not be the primary consideration when buying -- each person has their own reasons for what they like in a tractor. As others have said, having a supportive dealer is a huge consideration, possibly more important than the performance, features, or color of the actual machine in some cases.

No way I could justify over 2k more for a smaller tractor overall than the T234. I did speak with my sales manager about the TYM pricing and one of the things hindering a lot of sales at many dealers is pricing the TYM higher to keep the sales up of their name brand tractors and the fact that TYM frowns on them advertising any prices besides besides retail. My advise to anyone shopping would be to contact a dealer like Ocala Tractor and getting a best price then taking that to your dealer and get the pricing comparable. He sent me the first price by e-mail and I thought he was leaving off the mid mount mower but after calling and verifying the price I made the deal. Didn't ask for any better price since he was already over 2k under competitors.
If you use the website you can get a quote without even calling.

I researched for months and was mainly interested in Kubota, LS and TYM. The TYM 234 is definitely beefier since it was originally a 29hp 293 and now the 234, heavier frame, larger, bigger tires, much more lift capacity and for me a savings of well ofer 2k in my area. Mine is being built now and will be in to the dealer by end of week so I will be posting pics and review next week I hope.

Cool, can't wait to see the pics. Congrats!

If you have a Rural King store near you, their machines are made by Tym and they have tons of extra features at great prices.

RK is the only tractor i was looking at a year ago, had a new store open a few miles from my Ky home and was sold on them. Here in Fl I was contacted by the store here over an hour away, had a long conversation with them and told them whenever they had a sale or incentives, nothing until a couple months ago trying to make the sale at retail and 6.9% and was told they do not negotiate price and do not drop % rates so I declined because the price was higher than the TYM T234. I did really like the machines tho. Hopefully it will be here in a few days.

That T234 is neat sized machine and really well built. When I saw a pic of it my mind thought of a Branson I looked at. Those South Koreans really know how to design and build solid equipment that performs well beyond their competitors and have lots of built in features.

I find the neat thing is that the T234 started out life as a 29hp then the 29 was dropped and the 24.4 Mitsubishi was installed but kept the larger frame, 5ft bucket and the lift capacities. My manual still has 293 on the front. I feel it is a lot more tractor for the money.

I thought they recently changed to Yanmar engines?

Edit: Just looked at their web site and everything up to 55 HP still has Yanmar EXCEPT the T234.

I also see they are making some larger tractors with DeutZ engines and a 105 HP Doosan.

Don't the RK folks claim that they sell their tractors for less than the same model TYM?

The 234 engine is the same as the T293 just turned down in hp.

All I can tell you is, MY TYM dealer won't sell his tractors for what RK is posting for prices.

I already asked about a model I was looking at, and he said he just couldn't do it...

Of course, he's a "tractor dealer", not a car lot, selling a few tractors like some guys around here...

Don't know about YOUR TYM dealer....but

I would expect that nationwide, different TYM dealers might be willing to sell at different prices.

The dealer told me it was about the EPA requirements, not sure how that is done or what it is based on but the 29hp in that frame was going to require more add-ons and expense, by changing to the 24.4hp that eliminated the problem. RK told me the same thing last year about their machines, that they kinda played the system to fall just under the next level of compliance.

I would suggest anyone looking to shop, compare and maybe take a quote to another dealer try going here: Ocala Tractor - New & Used Agricultural Equipment, Service, and Parts in Ocala, FL, near Ocala, Gainesville, The Villages, Lake City, and Orlando , get an online quote emailed to you and you will see the real difference in dealer prices. All the prices they list online are close to retail as required by TYM but the real price they sell for will be sent to you via e-mail. I have seen many prices on the T234 up to 16,999 for tractor and FEL, First price they made me for my T234 with FEL and Mid Mount Mower was 13,900. That is a huge chunk of change between dealers. The sale manager there came from the auto industry and was one of the developers that helped make the program to be able to "Build You Own" on a lot of sites. Ocala Tractor was the #1 dealer for 2018 and I guess that may also make a difference. I don't mind anyone making a profit but I kinda frown on getting took to the cleaners.

I think I heard that somewhere. :)

No they won't do that. Been there, tried that and done that. I was told at RK that their prices are the same nationwide and they are not allowed to reduce prices, what you see is what you get.

You got a read on that anywhere? I would definitely be interested in reading all about it. I didn't have any info on the 293 so I didn't know it had a Mitsubishi S3L2 engine

The 234 has 80.4cu displacement engine - same as the 293 according to Tractordata.com.

That's more than a Kubota B2601 at 68.5 cu and a little more than a B2650 at 77cu, but less than an L2501 at 100.5. All of these are "25 HP" engines. Seems like the T234 would be fairly torquey for the frame class. I'm not fan of TYM. They don't have a dealer presence around me and I don't care for the "styling". Some folks really like them and I have not heard of terrible problems with them.

I didn't think of that. You are probly right!!!

The difference between those two models is "pump" setting and RPM. The higher hp tractor winds up 300 more rpm...
