I’m having an issue with my HST pedals. I bought the tractor new about 2 months ago so I know this is under warranty, but I’ve been clearing some of my property, so I about want to bet it’s my fault and I just snagged something.

The tractor goes forward and reverse with no issues, but today, I noticed that when I take my foot off either one of the pedals, they don’t return to the “off” position. I have to push the other pedal to get it to stop. Also, the pedals are super easy to press where they use to be pretty stout.

Does anyone know if there’s a return spring or is this done inside the hydraulic system?

I looked under it while pressing the pedals to see if I can see anything that stands out and from what I can tell, it looks fine.

The tractor has 21 hours on it

I'm not the mechanical expert, but there are posts about pedal adjustment. Hopefully, it's just loose and not broken.

Maybe @ptsg has some suggestions on where to look?

Thanks. I hope so too. As soon as it cools down a bit, I’ll crawl up under it and give it a better look.

If you didn't find any sticks or stuff jammed in there, I suspect you may have lost the return spring. There is also a dampener that smooths out the pedal movement. This is all done in the linkage to the pedals, so it's nothing internal to the HST unit.

If you could post some pictures of the linkage, that would help a lot. We then could cross reference with the parts catalog (that you can get on TYM website) and see what's missing or wrong with it.

Mine is a shuttle transmission but within the first hours of cutting brush, I did manage to pop the return spring for the clutch pedal out. Luckily, it still held on the other end and I didn't lose the spring. It's just stuff that happens working in brush.

Thanks. I got underneath it yesterday afternoon and found the return spring bent pretty bad. Was able to shorten it a bit to see if that was the culprit and I could definitely tell the difference. I’ve ordered some off of Amazon that I think will work u til I can get a TYM replacement from my dealer.
