Here is how I use my short adapter on my finish mower. Note that all my implements are modified to use the top hook in the lowest position so I don't have to remove it for using the adapter. When not needed I just pivot the adapter forward and leave it on the top link pin.

On my brush mower I remove the pins from the top hook and move it up to engage the top pin on the mower. Then I just use the top hole on the hook and let it pivot with the mower float. That mower has a slotted top link connection so I get float from the slot and the hook pivoting.

I suppose I could use the same method on the finish mower and do away with the adapter all together but unhooking the hook is more trouble than flopping the adapter over.

Slight mod...

NOT using the hook defeats the whole purpose of quick hitch...

I tried this method before going to the adapter and it came unhooked during use. If it works for you then great but I see nothing to prevent it from coming loose.

Having the ability to connect the lift links without fighting with them by no means defeats the use of a quick hitch. It may temporarily make it more like the Pat's system but does not defeat the main advantage at all.

I completely agree , most of the time I have to hook up a pto shaft or raise a parking stand anyway so hooking the top link adapter isn’t a real big issue

Due to Heart Disease and being on my second Pacemaker I can not weld anymore or else I would of made something close to what DL Meisen has posted just not as nice. I did try welding once a few years ago and I did feel it in my chest so I stopped, tried a few other things they told me I should not use and it did the same thing as the welder so I just stay away from certain tools now.

That's ok... You use what best what effect or not effects your life.....

Its all about "concept" of QH and not whether you can mod it or not....

If implement comes out of hook you probably need to reevaluate how it was applied.......

I never even thought about leaving the hook on I will have to see if it’s in the way or not but there is at least one thing I know and that is we are on the same page when it comes to using the top link to the best of its ability. I will stay with this because it works for me right now with my two implements.
