( Daryl Ford owns no part whatsoever of Cummins. This has been a popular rumor for many years. Ford sold the very little stock that they had of Cummins back in the middle 90's. Cummins and Dodge currently have a contract through 2012 I believe. Cummins has developed a 6.7 new diesel engine for the Dodge trucks. This engine will be used in the 2007 and up trucks. The only place you will see a Cummins motor in a Ford truck is in the 650 and up trucks. )

You beat me to it..... This is a very popular rumor... I'm always hesitant to say it will never happen, just because you never know whats going on behind the scenes.. But, from some very good sources, its bogus....

That's interesting in as much as my employer owns 2 heavy truck dealerships, both brands of Diamler's and the mechanics and service writer told me the same thing, that is, Cummins out, MB in. We'll see. MB has a nice 5 cylinder inline that will fit nicely.

It's also interesting but not widely known that Ford has a number of F350 pickups in corporate hands that have Cummins engines in them. Remember, I'm from a Ford employee family, not factory workers but engineers.

/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifThat is what they call me these days, but I do admit that sometime what they tell me does change rather dramaticly.. I have heard prety emphaticly though that Cummins does not belong to Ford.. Also, Ford does not embrace the inline engines anymore because of crash standards... I do understand that Dodge might be loosing them though.. It does make sense since Mercedes is making other diesels for them.
