So, I'm replacing the radiator in my year 2000 MF1250 (started a thread in the MF Owning/Operating forum). Found one that was damaged in an accident but has been repaired, restored, flushed, tested. Only had 82 hours on that machine, so it will be just fine for the small amount of time I spend mine. I've seen the repair invoice, so it's legit. Got it for $140 including shipping.
I've been searching for days trying to find replacement coolant hoses and a cap. The hoses are 1" x 1 1/4" by about 17" long. A couple of bends, but nothing dramatic. Cap looks like every other one I've seen. I finally found a place that has a branch that can get the parts...they would be drop shipped from Massey in Illinois to me here in Arizona. Great!
NOT!! The costs are:
Radiator cap - $35.60
Lower hose - $52.60
Upper hose - $36.70
Special Handling - $22.00
TOTAL IS $155.28!!!!![]()
Whoa Nelly!!! There is no way I'll ever pay that much for radiator hose or a radiator capIs this crazy or what??
I'm going to reuse my hoses that are still in like new shape (400 hours on them) and find a 15psi (or less) cap at a parts store.
Have any of you been sticker shocked with parts that are 1000% overpriced?
I just had to rant![]()
If your time is worth absolutely nothing, then those prices appear high.
But with the price of fuel and the fact that you can't get the years back, Buy it once!.
$36 for a radiator cap I would not do however. ;-)
