this parts price conversation topic is usually about Deere and the price parts, Deere being the colour of money, Deere being greedy etc.

The reason of why so many good pieces of equipment are unused and sit out and rust away?! :grumpy:

Yep. My 2550 almost became a pasture decoration because I wasn't sure if it was worth fixing. In the end is was still cheaper than finding another, but that's only because the dealer was able to find me some used parts.

Massey = red = what you'll be in after finding parts...LOL

When someone prices themselves out of the parts market, I usually do a reverse-engineer as most of the items they don't manufacture themselves, such as belts, hoses and bearings are available elsewhere. Closest thing I could find for you is a Gates 25180 universal hose with 1.125 x 1.250 ends; maybe a piece of bicycle inner tube would build up the 1" radiator fitting so this would work. Those are available at O'Reilley Auto Parts, although I'd probably lean toward cleaning, inspecting and reusing the originals, as well as the radiator cap. If all of the OEM stuff is serviceable, that buys time on sourcing spares

Thanks Skyhook - I saw that and since I have the original cap, I may as well use it. Any suggestions on how to clean it without ruining the rubber seal?

Spent a couple more hours last night looking at hoses from online auto stores, etc. None of them have the 1" end. There's the 1-1/4", but I need a hose with both sizes. I also saw hose reducers, inserts that reduce the ID...anybody use them without problems?

It may be I'll have to reuse what I removed. Thankfully they're not damaged.

There must be a way to remove the rubber before cleaning it, it was installed afterwards, you would think. As for your "hose" dilemma", you could always cut a piece of your 1 inch hose and place it on the rad, then put the over-sized hose over "it". Just a thought.

I recently needed a short 3/4 inch hose for my NH 1925 , it had a tight bend , I went to Napa looked in the back and found a hose with 3 bends in it the right size . It was $ 7,85 . I cut off 2 of the bends , replaced Both hoses and have a spare .

Spent more hours on the phone to parts stores in an area 1-1/2 hours from me. Even they don't have anything with a 1" end  I've followed the links you guys posted (THANK YOU for taking the time to do that!) and there's nothing any better than the parts removed from my radiator. And I know they've not been abused or subject to hard work...I'm the only one to drive the tractor and bought it new. It's only got 400 hours on it.

I cleaned/inspected the hoses and cap and everything looks as good as new. There's no cracks, splits, bulges, hard or soft areas. The cap's spring works and the gasket cleaned up. So, those will be reused. The lower hose comes out into an immediate 90-degree bend and is in a very difficult place to access. It'd be *really irritating* ....lol.... to try a makeshift hose and have it leak :yell:

The replacement radiator will be here Wednesday and I'm spiffing up the engine, etc. Luckily I live in northern Arizona and the days are in the 70s :cloud9:
