Cliff, I just stripped it down and blasted it, you do have to scrape off any grease and tar. But the pressure washer took care of most of it. As for the holes, there are only about 10 that are threaded. The rest take bolts w/ nuts. The threads just get real clean! You don't take off any good metal just the rust. If the threads were really rusted to begin with, then they were no good anyway. I will chase them with a tap after painting and before using them.
Don, The box sections are only on the front part of the frame and are open on the ends. There is not much rust on the inside. I will spray the rust sealer paint inside as best as I can and be done with it. I guess they don't get the exposure like the outside does, plus the box sections are 1/4" on the inside part, 1/2" on the outside.
