Here are some photos of the brake calipers. The top photo is of the rear calipers. The one on the left is before rust removal with the battery charger. and the right one is after. It does a pretty good job of getting the heavy pitted and flakes of rust off. I then pop out the pucks with the air line and then split the calipers and bead blast the outside. The bottom photo shows a front caliper after its been blasted and painted. Now it just needs the new seals fitted and its ready to be bolted back together.

Here are some photos of the rims before and after the sandblasting and powder coating. There was a lot of rust on the insides as well as the tube side on some of the rims. Found a shop that has a great set up for powder coating. They have an oven you can fit a whole car in! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif They did all five rims (sandblasting and powder coating) for only $175.00. I think the paint would have been at least $60 and I dreaded spending all that time blasting those rims. These suckers are huge! they are 11"X20" and weigh about 73lbs. each. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I figure the powder coating should last a lot longer than paint will, when your buried in the mud and spinning the tires! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here is a photo of the rear springs. The one on the left is how they looked before cooking them with the battery charger to remove the rust. And of course the right one is after the rust has been removed. I left it in for about six hours, then just brush it off and hose it down to wash off the slimey black gunk that forms on it. Now its ready to paint. My son picked a nice red-orange color, should look nice.

So how tall are those rear springs? They look huge, but since there is no soda can or pencil to guage size against they might be retractable ball point pen springs with the picture taken very close /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Cliff, The springs are 14" tall and are 24mm thick. It's hard to believe that they move at all! The tub that I use is just one of those plastic storage bins that you can buy for a few bucks. I got this one along the road on a windy day in front of my antique shop! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Its beat up, but holds water! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Here is how I learned about it.
