****UPDATE****

Just found out that this tractor does not have 200 hours on it as per the advertisement on machinefinder. When looking around I came across the website tractorhouse.com and found the same machine but it said the hours was 1,756 hours. Is this anything to be concerned with??? Any maintenance that I will need to plan on doing??

Don't guess...call the dealer and find out how many hours are on the 4600. I wouldn't be overly surprised if the tractor has the higher number of hours due to it's age. However, those pictures show a mighty clean machine.
Is this dealer too far to drive over and see the tractor? You ought to do that before selling your 790.

As far as what the 4600 may need....that's a really open question. It might need nothing but the fluids changed or it might need an engine overhaul. Depends on how it was used and maintained. You could ask the dealer for the previous owner's contact info (when I traded my old 670 in for my 790, the dealer (about 350 miles away) gave a potential buyer my phone number (with my permission)...told the buyer it was a good little machine, but I wanted more PTO HP...and, yes, he bought the 670).

Thanks RoyJackson. I did call the dealer and he confirmed the 1,756 hours on the machine. Said they briefly looked it over and couldn't find anything wrong with it. One of my technicians where I work (Ford dealership) said an older machine with that amount of hours is a good thing. That means it was used and not started and run for 5 min and then shut off. So more than likely each time it was started it was ran for a while, which typically is a good thing. It is only about 3 hours away from me. I am probably going to go look at it this weekend whether mine has sold or not. Kind've wanted to just make 1 trip up there to potentially buy it when I'm ready but an early trip up to demo it is a good idea.

I did a little comparing to a new 4120 with 400X loader which you should be able to buy new for about $27,000. So you are looking at 2/3 the cost of a new one with full warranty. Just something to compare to.

I bought an older model 770 (same tractor as the 790) with 2500 hours on it. The tractor was in showroom condition and well maintained.

It has worked flawlessly for me this winter and I couldn't be happier.

These machines hold their value very well.

Good luck with your purchase.
