UPS (uninterrupted power supply)

No experience with pellet stove, BUT when PG&E started doing their rolling "safety" black-outs I wound up getting an Outback Radian inverter backup for my freezer, servers and router. I split time between CA and FL, with work in CA, so blackouts were causing me all kinds of grief with remote desktop and data back-ups. They make them in 12, 24, and 48 volt DC to 120/240 pure synewave AC and up to 8kw, but can be paralleled for whatever kw you need. I have a 4kw hooked up to 8 110Ah 6v Sam's Club GC batteries. Went from 10 minute emergency runtime on APC and Cyberpower BackUPS to days. No problems since install.

Batteries get recharged from utility, genset, or solar, and when utility is on, it passes thru. I would think one of the smaller units could power your stove, or go bigger & run your essential circuits off a sub-panel.

I purchased a CyberPower UPS for my coal stove.

The power finally went out at 04:45 one morning while I was on the pot. I could not see a damn thing. It was a little disheartening considering the position I was in. Luckly, I had my cell phone.

The UPS preformed like a champ, and the coal stove never missed a beat. I went to check to see how much time I had till the batteries died. The readout said I had 30 minutes. Thats a lifetime compared to not having the backup. No more leaping through the snow like a naked gazelle trying to reach the generator in the barn before I lose my fire.

yep, that was the main reason for me getting a UPS. .... just to buy a short time to keep the programming on the stove.

Had a real world test the other night at 01:30. Power went out, stove was set to go on at 02:00. The power did come back on about 01:55.
BUT, without the UPS, the stove would have lost its programming, and the stove wouldn't have fired. The alarm on the UPS got me up and I leisurely went out and waited near the stove...... it fired up right on schedule!
Mission accomplished!

If the power stayed out, it would have bought me enough time to go get the genny started up.

I have a UPS that covers my computer and printer. If I were ever in an emergency situation - it would give me about 75 minutes on the computer.

I have it so I can gracefully shut down the computer if we ever have a power outage. I've had it six years now - not had to use it even once.

Both PCs, modem, security cameras and DVR + a 55" flat screen TV and the Dish Network box are all on UPSs(4). We don't have to get excited when a power outage strikes. No dead silence and darkness. We also have Emergency Lights throughout the house and in the detached garage. Alaska is dark enough in the Winter.
