Used magazines

I get FREE trade publications. But no one seems to be able to write interesting and informative articles anymore. Lots of words but no information. And, how much do (interesting) pictures cost? Very few for some strange reason.

I will never forget something I once read that says if you want to get back at someone, send a donation in their name to some cause. Religious is best.

Naw, better yet is a political party, especially the one he doesn't like.
Even phone calls to their headquarters didn't stop the mail and phone calls for me.
Had to get really ugly with a phone solicitor.

Mine is The Family Handyman magazine. $10 for a years subscription. It is full of short blurbs that take 2 minutes or less to read. That's perfect for busy waiting rooms and watching all the commotion....I hope that comes back soon.

More ads than content. Few articles in detail or more than one page.

A lot of these homey-type mags are just ad packs with teaser tidbits to get us to pay for them.

My son lives in town. He has separate recycle bins for - garbage, glass, paper, aluminum cans & yard debris. You would think the folks would get tired of ALWAYS having one recycle bin or another out at the curb, waiting for collection. This is a three year experimental program. Glad my tax dollars aren't spent on this. Garbage collection out here where I live is expensive enough having one container/month picked up.

We are in Lewis county. They changed recycling at the beginning of the year.
Bottles/glass...
Cardboard...
Metals...
Everything else is garbage now. Looks like out going to the dump trips will at least double if not triple. since they dont take plastic anymore I guess we will be adding to the big island in the ocean now.
Remember back in the 1980's when recycling plastic was the next greatest thing to save the planet? Now 40 years later they go back to just throwing it in the dump.

What you put in the landfill shouldn't end up in the ocean. Throw it in the ditch the way that some do and it could very well work it's way there.

While not mandatory I used to separate paper/cardboard, and cans. When I brought them to the transfer station they all ended up in the same place so why bother.

We have to pay by the bag for trash and recycle. So I crush my al cans and bring to scrapper once a year. Same with "tin" cans (soup, veggie). Paper we burn.

Magazines I try to pass along but most get burned. I guess I could dig a pit and bury them. Would that be more ecological? I only have 11 acres and some of it is wet and some steep or woods/underbrush so I don't have a lot of place to bury it.

I suggested burying our garbage (that which is not recyclable) but she nixed that idea.

Oregon has a 10 cent bounty on cans/bottles . . . it can make sense to bring them back.
