Hello,
I'm new to this board and to tractors. I'm looking for information on a Old used Kubota tractor.
i was told by someone interested in purchasing this from my family...that the Kubota was a cheap, dangerest, tractor and parts would be hard to find because its built in Japan.
They were willing to take the tractor off our hands in exchange for clearing weeds on 3 and one third acres of land my dad owns. I need to know what it estamated value might be. It is a Kubota L2000 (might be L200) it has a number 73005 and 48.3 on it.
It looks like a small tractor and it has some attachments that go to it also...I think a rolltiller type thing and something you drag to clear weeds? It is in running condition. Thats all the information I have on this.
I hope someone can help me or send me infor on where I might find out more. I have been searching online and used E bay, Goggle, and AOL search..but still cant find out much
Thank you
Jacqueline

Hi,

They said...

Boy did this cause a big flag to start waving in my mind!

Ummmm...These guys don't sound like the kind of people I would want to deal with.../w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Maybe they would like to also take some cash out of your wallet and replace it with a moth or something?

I am sure others here can give you an idea about the tractor's worth and so on...

Sounds like these guys are trying to take advantage of you...

I suggest you get a cash offer for the tractor, and a cash bid on the land clearing...and compare them and see what makes sense...

Good luck!

I'm not up on the prices and worth of Kubota Tractors. There are many people here that will help you with that ... However, don't give your tractor away just to get the yard cut... I'm sure that it has a much greater value than this "grass cutter" wants to give you ... sometimes just asking the question like "Kubota L2000 cost" in the Google search engine will start you toward finding the answer. So, if you are mot up on Google then just go to Google.com and then type in your key words Kubota L 2000 cost ... and see where it leads you ... You were smart to find and use this web site .. Good luck

even though I do not own a Kubota, (not against them, just can't afford to own the L48 model), this sounds to me like they are taking you over the hurdles. They are taking advantage of the "little old lady down the street" who, we will convince her Kubota is dangerous and worthless. Better off to get some young high school gentleman that needs pocket money. Even if it took the kid a month's time, you'd be way ahead of the game. In the meantime, keep asking those who own or sell Kubota's. Sooner or later you will obtain the answers you're looking for.

It sounds to me like the "person interested in purchasing the tractor" from your family may be trying to get it away from you for free or very little - OR, they don't know much about tractors either. FYI all the tractors sold in the USA that are small (under 40 Horse Power) are made in Japan or China or India or Korea and getting parts for them is not a problem. Dangerous? Your old Kubota may not have all the safety bells and whistles that new compact tractors do but it is no more dangerous than an old style farm tractor. As always, be careful when using any farm or construction equipment. In order to assess the value of the tractor you will need to look at the hour meter and see how many hours it has on it. The hour meter is located with in the Tachometer and looks like the odometer on you car it will have 4 digits for up to 9999 hours and a number to tenths of an hour so it might read 4350.7 or something. That will let you communicate the Tractros usefull life left in it to a buyer. I looked up the L2000 a little and found that they sell for $2000 - $3000 depending on condition. Yours would sell for more with the implements you mentioned. You would do well to call a Kubota dealer and see if they can give you a value on it. They may tell you that it is a "grey market" tractor. This means that it was originally made and sold in Japan and was brought over to the states and sold as used. Kubota USA has distanced themselves from these tractors and at one time had the FTC ban the import of these tractors as they viewed them as unfair competition to their new tractors at the dealers lots. That seems to have been overturned as I have seen several web sites that list them for sale again. Try contacting www.tractorco.com . They sell a lot of used Japanese tractors and may be able to help you with the value of this one.
