Using a Kubota to Power a Generator for Extended Periods

I don't understand why tractors don't have a shut down feature. OR, at least a LOUD signal. I contemplated this today, while using our open station JD during daytime hours. I would probably never see the indicator light for a serious fault, and wouldn't hear the alert, wearing ear protection.

Some do.. apparently green ones don't :) Might want to upgrade. ;)

I wish I had time for another such project. Wiring up a relay that is. Has anyone ever bought Murphy stuff? Can you say EXPENSIVE? I try and find what I want on E-Bay. Sometimes it takes a while.

Curious, if anyone actually had a catastrophic tractor failure running a PTO set, or heard of one.

And what about if someone tries to steal your rig so their beer cooler doesn't heat up ? And what if you park it on a hill and the machine rolls over when you bump into it at night ? And what if it gets a flat tire and AAA won't change it while its running and your kids are playing with their computer games and can't shut them down ? And what if the sky falls down or a meteor becomes a meteroite right there? What if you are living 'off-grid' and don't remember this when your neighbor's power goes out ? What if its 70 degrees outside, the refrigerators are empty and you have lots of trees around you ? What if your neighbor owns an extension cord manufacturing company ? Just what will you do ? OMG !

Gosh, I guess I'd just shoot myself except it would probably hurt. Maybe you should check fluids before you start all this effort. Maybe you should own a tractor that doesn't leak, burn or spew it's fluids out and commit it to a house alternator. Perhaps a bicycle powered battery charger is really all you need.

It doesn't take a whole lot to wire in a pressure switch with the choice of contacts that open or close when there is no pressure . Same goes for over temp switches .
There is usually some place to tie it into the electrics to either shut down or sound an alarm. I don't know how long it would take to stop a conventional diesel with an electric fuel solenoid between the low pressure pump and the injection pump? Probably less than a minute?

I suppose they got called Murphy Gauges on account of anything that can go wrong will. I had a low hour 42 PTO hp Universal tractor that was running my Onan 3ph 15kw rig for a few hours. It was mounted on the 3ph but was lowered to the ground. When I went to leave, I realized the 3ph no longer worked. Sheit happens. I never did get the hitch working reliably again, before we traded it on the JD.
