Using a Kubota to Power a Generator for Extended Periods

Many times I drive my 15kw gen set with a 12hp tractor... It works just fine, AS LONG as I don't try to pull more than 6kw out of the generator.

The truth is, in our day to day lives, we aren't "power slobs", so I can easy run my whole house on less than 6kw...

I only become a power slob when I start using the power tools in my shop... lol

I am not so educated about PTO generators, but I used to have a Military surplus MEP-003a generator. The MEP units came in power from 5KW to 100KW depending on the type. The MEP-003a is rated at 10KW. However it was rated to make that power at 8000 feet above sea level and 120 degrees F. So it was easily able to produce 12/13KW all day long. It has a 4 cylinder Onan diesel engine. I am not sure as the true HP but it was only rated at 18HP.

18HP will run a 12Kw generator. A 50% loaded diesel engine may have "reserve capacity" how ever the fuel efficiency will be lousy compared to another wise identical but smaller diesel that is operating at 90% of max HP.
