Using a Landscape Rake

Yep on the Harley Rake,

York rakes are finders of rocks, not collectors. I use my kids for the collection. I just LOVE that sound when I am using my rake and think I am almost done, when I hit the 2 pound quartz rock on the final pass......

I agree with the Harley Rake. I found I could only pick up about 50% with the York Rake. The best I could do is set the top link for an agressive setting. After a few passes the rake loosens up the soil and takes more soil than rocks. After a weeks or so after the dirt tightens up a little, I could go back out a make a few more passes. I've ended up hand-picking most of mine, about 6yds for 2 ac. of lawn. I tried to rent a Harley Rake, but my tractor doesn't have rear hydraulics.

Wisconsin is the rock capitol.... I know it for a fact. Pulled out a 500 plus pounder today with the loader. I have rented a harley rake several times with good results. The only problem is one part is on a hill side which is an invitation to a 3" rain fall in 20 minutes. The rocks grow like clock work every year. I wonder what it would be like to live in sand country?

Now you have done it..... you have started the Great Rock Debate. 500 pounds... why that is just a pebble compared to my rocks. My rocks are so big that there isn't a portable scale that will even weigh them. In short, bring it on....show me your rocks, because I know that my rocks are bigger than your rocks!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh man...let's rock /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It sounds like the dust that blows off the rocks at my place in PA must've landed in Wisconsin. Some probably blew over to CT, too /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I started a new thread for this... Let's Rock

Let's see what you got...

OK, now I understand about the ricochet problem there. I would think that taking this much out would require some to be put back in as in loads and loads of fill dirt.

The one range here that has high power rifle shooting has a mountain as the back stop, literally! We shoot at up to 400 yards, with a wooded, mountain in the background. Other than after the machine gun shoots, I dont think they clean it up. They blow up lots of cars and other large items also here on machine gun days!

Rocks.....what are rocks? My rocks are a few miles straight down. I have nothing but sand. Fortunately, I have a perched water table so usually have plenty of moisture for growing things. Boy do things grow. Grass can grow a foot in a week. By the time I got my new tractor this year and finished overhauling my Bush Hog the grass and light brush was up to the hood of a Kubota L3130. One pass takes it down easily though.
