using innertubes rather than buying new tire

Brin,
We used to call those heavy duty patches that are applied to the inside "boots".

down here in florida we get liners for rims or tires and call them boots... some people split an innertube as a boot with a good tube in it.. all this in combination with a good thick farm patch.

For a tire that size, have them filled. Troubles end. I had that problem on the lawn tractor for years down here with all the Mesquite trees around. Couldn't keep air in the tires from one mowing to the next. Tubes made it worse. Forget patching, you'd be breaking-down the tires every hour. I had so many plugs in the tires after one year, the ride was lumpy. Bought new tires and had them filled with urethane.

I think these things are the best (concerning just whether to use a plug or a patch), a combination plug and patch.

This site gives a good explanation of "why".

I put tubes in mine and put in Berrymans tire sealer. I used to have flats all the time because of the locust trees, now it's pretty rare.
