WOW, it sounds like you are very rich!!. maybe ask your chauffeur to check your mail each day, then!!.. if I was that rich to have that much property, I'd certainly do that!!.. 2 miles to mailbox, means you have a HUGE property, and in California, that means a multi millionaire lives there!.. the property taxes alone would be out of reach for most people!!..

If I had delivery it would be almost a mile away at the end of the town road; as I said before, the postal service doesn’t come down my road. I went with a PO Box instead as when I moved here there were times when I was gone for 3 weeks or longer. Not everybody lives on the main road.

For us UPS is the clear winner. Our drive is only 100ft long or so. They come in the drive. Leave the package by the side door. One day it was a small envelope type package with just a small coax type connector in it. Dude was nice enough to grab a landscaping brick and weight the thing down so the wind did not blow it away.

We have an Amazon warehouse in town now. So we could in theory get same day delivery. Their delivery people are odd. They stay parked on the road and walk down the drive to deliver. Even though from the top of the drive you can see there is plenty of room to drive that truck in and turn around with zero issues.
We are on a fairly busy road and have a U shaped driveway, you can see the whole thing from the road and we still have Amazon delivery people who park on the other side of the road, then walk across the road, or who pull in the driveway and back out onto the busy road.

Actually I think there are a lot of east coasters who has no clue what it is like living off the coast, they live in their own little cocoon.....

At least a lot of the fly over population sees/experiences their (coccon people) world by traveling for business or pleasure, most of those in the cocoon never get more than a hundred or so miles inland.....

I live in NC which some would consider the east coast.

Spent numerous years in Alaska, Utah, Montana and Idaho, sometimes driving around with a gas can on the vehicle when I wasn't certain when I'd hit the next gas station (know what it's like to be "no where").

Looks like you're from Indiana. Although Indiana isn't on the "East coast", exactly what is the longest distance between two points in Indiana before you hit a gas station?

I was repsonding to lilranch2001 NOT to deserteagle71:D

Nevada is on our list of states to retire. How much snow do you get? Other possible issue is you're pretty close to the peoples republic of Kalifornia:laughing:

I was born in Maine, my wife was a lifelong Vermonter until she moved to NC, we're kind of both done with long hard winters (and our teenage boys want to move to Vermont, but they complain when it's 20 or below outside and they have to wait for the bus at the end of our road).

I like Amazon deliveries by their own vehicles. They notify you when they are about 10 stops away with a map of their current location. The map continues to be updated until your delivery is made.

There's a lot of rural California where they have mailbox banks. We're on one. USPS won't deliver mail off the main road.

Our local USPS office in town is staffed with competent friendly people. The drivers are pretty good too. Unlike some of the delivery services, the drivers keep routes for a while and thus are able to learn them and the people on them. It can get pretty difficult in this area- the mountains are steep and the woods are thick.

One time we ended up with a hand drawn mail route map and cheat sheet in our mailbox that must have accidentally come from the delivery person. We put it in the outgoing mail for them.

There is a lot of mail theft here so we have to use locking mailboxes. Even those get destroyed by thieves every few years, or get driven into by trucks and destroyed. I keep saying that the next one will be armored but I never have time to do it when it happens.

In my experiences USPS is the clear winner, they are always on time and deliver to our porch box if it doesn't fit in the mail box at the road. Last Sunday USPS delivered a Tonneau cover and a bed mat of the wife's new truck. They were ordered on Friday and that bed mat was heavy. They pulled up my drive and unloaded I help the 30 something girl unload. FedEx sucks as we are currently still waiting for the nerf bars for the same truck ordered on the 3rd from Realtruck. They have been 30 miles away since Friday, I've gotten "delivery exception" for three last 3 days. I tlked to somebody today and they state nothing is wrong and just verified my address. We will see what happens tomorrow.

^^^^

I had the opposite experience. As I've mentioned before I ordered a tool to remove the breech plug in my muzzle loader. It's a 1/2" solid steel rod about 9 inches long, machined on each end. It left a gun shop in Florida and USPS showed every stop as it came up the eastern seaboard, travelling right on schedule. Then it hit Chelsea Massachusetts and stopped. For over a week according to tracking it never moved. Then the tracking showed it heading north again and I finally received it a couple of weeks late. The only thing I can think of is that somebody thought it was a bomb, and they had to xray it or something.
