OK, you guys got me curious, so I wrote down some of the stuff on the buckets.

It's called ProMax Premium Industrial Lubricants

The description says its "a true multi-service oil recommened for the hydraulic, wet brakes, and transmissions requirements of equipment manufactureres" and then it has a list of most brands including Case, Cateopillar, John Deere, Ford, IH, Massy-Ferguson and about a dozen more.

Some of the Fluid Specification or Designations are:

C1,C2,C3,C4
PF No. 821
TO-2
MS1205, 1204, 1206
Powerguard PTF
J-14B, J14C, 303
ESN-M2C41-B, 48-B, 53-C, 86-B, 134, B, C
Spec. B-6
M-1110, 1127, 1129 (Permatran)
Type 55
Hydraulic Trnasmission Fluid
Gear/Hydraulic Transmission Fluid
Q-1722

and it's packaged by Premier Lubricants in Shreveport, LA

Is this any good, or am I being taken advantage of? I've been told this is the good stuff and I see it used by all sorts of contractors. Two that I know personally use it and told me about it.

Thanks,
Eddie

FWIW I called the company and they are sending over their tech data sheet. They don't formulate it in Shreveport so the tech / lab lady there was not familiar with the specifics.

I think it will be a re-refined or similar type product.

Ahh, see, it's a "Industrial Lubricant" and not a "Hydraulic Oil" only. You should be fine with it. I was just worried you were using a hydraulic oil in your common sump system and that wouldn't have been a good thing.

OK, think this will come out as a picture, but here is the spec sheet, I see no mention of base stock, so cannot say definitively what base they are using. Would need to call back to thier lab and see.

Short version for me and mine I would use it and not blink an eye assuming that you have

"Promax Premium tractor hydrualic / transmission oil"

I am assuming in quick typing you left off the transmission part of the name.

It meets the 134D NH spec (latest out I believe) so for my applications it would be fine.

I guess technically you would need to look down the list, and look for your equipment spec,,,, JD 303 is another common one and it is listed.

OK, crud, the scan is too big too load. I can e-mail it or fax it if you want too see it.

Alan,

Thanks. I never imagined anybody would call the company!!!! WOW

None of those things make any sense to me, so I just trusted what others have said, and assumed I was using good stuff. Then I read that I might not be and I get flashbacks to rebuilding hydraulic pumps on the dozer, which sends a very cold chill down my spine!!!!!

I'm very happy thay you know what I'm using and it's rated for what I'm using. The thought of having to go buy hydraulic oil for $30 or $40 for five gallons terrifies me. At $19, and with how much I go through, it's alread in absurd.

Sorry to hijack your thread Soundguy, but I do appreciate the advice.

Those are my thoughts as well... I'd stay away from that stuff like crazy... I've got too much money tied up in rear ends and trannies to accidentially put straight jack oil in them.. I don't even keep plain hyd oil around here. I put UTF in anything that needs hyd oil... never had a problem with it. i know jack oil is cheaper.. but it's not worth making a mistake and smoking a 5000$ rear end...

Hey, I'm sorry for alarming you.. I just wanted to make sure that you were using a UTF oil, and not just a hyd oil, if a common sump machine. i hate fixing things.. and I know you probably do to.

If it meets M2C134D ( CNH spec ).. then it is good stuff.

Good price too.

$19 for 5 gallons is a jamming price. I would bring that place a box of donuts to just say thanks next time you go by :)
