Tractor
Mahindra 6000 4wd; IH x2; NHTC40DSS; International 1086; JD 5115M
I have posted regarding the Mahindra 6000 without response. My sense is from reading other posts that this board is primarily devoted to compact tractors. Does anyone know of a site or board devoted mainly to utility tractors, i.e. 40hp to 80hp tractors?

Hey Slippy you can try other boards like Machinery Talk on http://talk.newagtalk.com or Todays Tractors on http://www.ytmag.com

But I do not think you'll get much input except maybe at ytmag. The other boards are more for ag-tractors. You'll probably get the most Mahindra input right here.

Another thing... this unit hasn't been in the American pipeline long enough to develop any reputation per se...

So when you go out and buy one of these good looking units... you can be a pioneer and tell us the pro's and con's... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Somebody's got to do it... it might as well be you... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Someone gave me the same advice when I was looking at purchasing my Power Trac /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Thank you gentlemen for the feed back. If money was not an issue, I would probably buy brand name. I have owned 3 JD tractors and have owned them, used them, and then sold them for as much if not more than what I paid for them. However, they were compact tractors and the prices were well under the 20k mark. Now I find that a JD or other big color will be close to 30k if not more in the utility line. So, I must necessarily look to the off market. I have done alot of reserach, gone to farm reviews, talked to all who will talk, and as you say, it seems to be a somewhat untested brand in the States. I have sheets of stats, etc. The Mahindra seems to be a fine piece of equipment, although it is not quite as refined as some of the other brands, but then again, the price is much less. The dealer I have been working with tells me the tractors "dyno" (what ever that means) out at about 53 - 54hp pto, but the spec sheet says 60hp engine and 50hp pto. I did find out that Mahindra's backhoes are made by Bradco, and the loaders are made for them by Great Bend. From all I have read on this board, both of these products seem to be top shelf.
So, I certainly would appriciate any other words of wisdom. Otherwise, I will continue on my own, check the sites you have suggested, and report back if I make the plung on the Mahindra. I might just find out if they are the third largest tractor manufacture in the world for good reason.

You Stated they are the third largest tractor manufacturer in the world. To be able to reach that status they have to have something going for them.
Otherwise I know nothing of the tractor.

Mahindra is the 3rd largest tractor manufacturer in their segment, which is tractors of 60 engine hp and under. Kinda misleading really. The market in India is huge(around 200,000 tractors per year),but I do believe the average hp is around 30 or 35 on most farms.
