Re-decking Gooseneck Trailer

What are we looking at there? Looks like aluminum. But what is it? And is it a readily available product? This is a timely post as I need to redeck my 16'er.
I am about 99% sure that that is aluminum decking off of a flatbed semi trailer, at least that is what I took it to be.

You are correct!
Somewhere I had mentioned it before, a couple years ago when I first decked it out.
Years ago I bought a 40 ft flatbed to deck out a trailer I built. Buyer got in a hurry, so I decked it with bar grading. Later I got paid to change it out with the aluminum. Didn't use all of it, and negotiated with a shop owner to buy his drops until I had enough.
It works well for my use, and is probably stronger than most wood floors. Will probably outlast them also.
The trailer shop was in McDonough, GA.

As for the oil treatment, I painted a new board fence, common red oak boards. Red oak is not the most durable wood in the weather but it lives in very similar conditions as a trailer deck. It wasn't until about 20 years that I had to replace any of them.
If it's not the rain, it's the sun drying out pt. that will be it's eventual ruin and all pt is not treated equally but it's still probably the 2nd choice if you can't get white oak. That's excluding the exotic rain forest woods that is just stupid expensive for the average occasional use non "over the road" user.

I bought my trailer new in 2003 I am just now needing to replace the deck boards and not even all of them must be replaced. I did treat the deck once, but it has never been parked inside.
That said I keep it where it is in the sun constantly so it dries out regularly and I think that really helps with wood deck longevity.

I have a friend who since 2009 is on his third set of wood deck boards, but his is parked where leaves build up on it and it’s very shady.

That's not going to èver trouble you again. 👍
Since my Big Tex sits out in the weather all year long, and seldom even gets used, I figured if I didn't do something serious, every time I wanted to use the trailer I would have to fix the floor.
With no more home time than I get, when I start to do a project, I end up getting side tracked because something I need has sat around and now needs repair. So...I am learning to fix things "long term" when I can.
