Does anyone know where I can find a good quality utility wagon to pull behind my BX? I looked at some wagons at Rural King and Sears but wasn't going to pay 300 bucks for a plastic or a flimsy thin guage metal wagon . Does Kubota make a wagon? Just want to haul some brush , rocks and mulch around the yard. Any suggestion appreciated /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Take a look at the wagons and trailers from Country Home Products (www.countryhomeproducts.com). I have been pleased with the performance and quality.

I have no personal experience with them but you could try www.ohiosteel.com. The web site shows some "small farmers" wagons.

I think a couple of us on the board have the Agri-Fab 17 cu. foot cart. Certainly not the greatest in the world, but it works and is reasonable in price ($200).
I have to admit that mine is used mostly for taking the kids on tractor rides (even though the cart has the usual lawyer's warnings not to do it!)
There was another discussion here on TBN that a whole list of us contributed to. The consensus was that the best buy was a utility trailer for your car / truck that can then be hauled by the tractor when you get home. Go to the building supply store / nursery and pick up what you want then haul it with the tractor back home ...
That's my big regret the major downfall of this cart - it's not roadworthy. You live and you learn.

I agree with Patrick, a utility trailer for the road has many uses. I bought an inexspensive 4' x 8' trailer from Harbor Freight for about $225. Had to put it together and add decking and sides but for less than $300 with the wood, I have a trailer that I can go the the nursery for trees/shrubs, pick up 2 yards of mulch, etc then bring it home and transfer it over to the tractor hitch. Just adding up delivery fees from various retailers, I have paid for the trailer many times over. The only issue I can offer is that the hitch frame is a "V" from the trailer instead of a single arm coming straight out. This can reduce the turning radius as the tractor tires are closer togather than a vehicles and the side can rub the tire. It's not really that big of deal, just make a little wider turn. Last October, we decorated it for Halloween and had about 15 kids using it for transportation as the houses are far apart. Felt like the Pied Piper as more and more kids kept piling on! I used my lawn tractor, an Ingersol, for that purpose, much better visibility what with all the little ones running around. David

Me, too, David. I bought a used 5' x 10' tilt bed trailer ($425 if I remember right); handy as pockets on a shirt both behind the tractor and on the road.

About 8 years ago I wanted a large cart to pull behind my JD 855. At that time all I could find were small carts designed to pull behind lawn and garden tractors. Not only were they too small they looked rather odd behind a compact utility tractor. I went to a farm equipment salvage yard and bought a "quite used" manure spreader for $40.00. I removed the apron, beaters, shafts, etc,. Essentially I was left with a frame, axle, wheels, tires. One of the tires was in poor shape. I ended up getting a used tire (20") mounted for $25.00. I built a deck and sides out of treated wood for about $150.00. The end result is a heavy duty utility trailer that will easily handle two ton of anything you can put in it. It doesn't tilt so anything shoveled in must be shoveled out. Although I think someone with a little more fabricating skill than I could design the deck to tilt with hydrualics. I have just over $200.00 in the project and I use it 2-3 times each week. I can haul a much larger load of brush with it vs. the smaller carts you can buy. Due to the drought this year I've been watering my small trees. I put a 300 gallon barrel in my cart (2400# filled with water) and it handles it with no problem. I installed a pto powered roller pump on my 4400 JD and can water the trees with a hose from the seat on my tractor. It works great. I plan on building a larger cart this winter using another spreader frame.
Old boat trailers are perfect platforms for a utility trl.A little angle iron and a few deck boards ,there ya go.Put a spiffy paint job on it if ya want.Mine is green so are t-post and pasture gates and of course the mighty 4200!O-tilt is very handy on a small trl.

I have the 2 Ton version built as a tandem axle trailer--not as a wagon. The bed is the same for both, but I prefer the trailer style for ease of backing. The trailer version includes a swing-away jackstand to support the tongue when the trailer is parked. The brackets for a hydraulic lift cylinder are already in place when you receive the wagon or trailer. I installed a cylinder from Farm and Fleet and the whole thing works great. I have absolutely no regrets and would buy again.
