UTV Comparison

Just wanted to let Skip know I will post some videos as soon as weather permits, we have had about 2 feet of snow on the ground most of which just melted in the last couple days. I should have thought to take some video of the 1100 blasting through the snow but I didn't. I have to cross over a portion of my lawn to get to the trails and right now the ground is extremely soft with all the snow melting and I don't want to make a mess. I would like to try and convince my buddy to try a pull off against his Ranger. I honestly don't know who would win. The Ranger has true 4wd but is lighter and less torque. The Kubota has almost double the weight, better tires, more torque but no locking front diff, so it would be interesting. We'll see.

Forgot to mention 1100 also comes standard with power steering, rear view mirror and speedometer.

Before I got my 1100 I was all worried about if I could take the doors off. Figured I would take them off for the summer. Once I got the machine I was relieved that the doors can be quickly removed. As I have had the machine for a few months I have yet to remove the doors and doubt I ever will. Its no big deal getting in or out. The enclosed cab keeps me cool in the summer, keeps the bugs and dust out of the cab. In the winter it keeps me warm and keeps the snow out. I live in upstate NY where the weather can range from minus 20 in the winter to the high 90's in the summer. Maybe its just that I am getting older but I am not much for braving the elements anymore. I love the cab.
As far as the side glass getting muddy, not an issue on the 1100 as the bottom part of the door is solid and the top half is glass.

I live over here about 3 miles from Lake Erie on Rt 20. I know the weather and would be lying if I said I didn't like a cab. But for what I need this UTV for it will be a lot of on and off and I want something that is as easy to get in and out of as possible and doors don't seem like they would make it easy to get in and out of mulitple times. Another problem is it would be hard to open the doors while I am in the vineyard row, actually, it would be almost impossible for me to open the door far enough to get out. Plus a cab in the orchard as wide as the UTV cab is would take a lot of abuse if I am not very careful and if I let others use it, well, I don't see pretty things happening.

If things get to the point where I can justify a second UTV I will buy one with a nice cab and depending on what I am doing would be which machine I take. I won't have to worry about a second UTV anytime soon though as I don't have the first UTV yet:(

I agree. A nice closed up cab where things stay nice and clean is appealing to me. Taking the doors off will only suck dust and leaves into the cabin making it look like a work truck inside the cabin. However, a nice window that either rolls down or slides open that would allow you to pop your head out the drivers side door seems like a good idea but then again I have no experience with these cabs to know if it is really needed.

Cool. Thanks Mike. I wouldn't get that nice machine out in bad weather either.. :)

Cabs are nice and the rtv has the nicest I have seen.
I have a 4 wheel drive truck and a Samurai if I need to be enclosed. For cruising trails an enclosed cab is awesome.
If you venture off the easy trails a cab will become a problem and a hindrance.

My rhino and xuv are used for more than average use. We ride with four wheelers rock crawlers and dirt bikes. I don't have any desire to be left behind.
I have windshields but I only put them on in extreme cold and rain. (which isn't often)

I understand everyone doesn't ride in the same conditions.
If 3 wheel drive and a cab works for ya. Ride on.. :D

I've seen some of your video's and as much as I love my 1100 it would not be suitable for the type of riding you do.

I agree 100%.
Everyone doesn't use their utv the same.
I didnt create this thread to bash any vehicle.
I was in hopes of getting video's of how each type machine performed.
So far all we have are gator and rhino video's.
Each utv excels in different areas. We all use our utv's differently.

We all win if we get off our tails and on the trails.. :)

There is a trick to a pull-off. Put your foot on the brake and when he starts spinning his tires, you can walk off with him in tow.

For an 11 year old he does very well. He has been driving off-road since he was 5.

I know it doesn't look like it in the video's but we spot each other very well.
We have both been on our sides more than once. The crash video's don't make the cut because they are discouraging.
I have a few I am saving for a blooper compilation.. :)
