Do you recall where they are located at, this sounds like fun!

Tom, a good business idea soon has competition. There are now at least two Segway tour places in Austin. We went to Gliding Revolution just south of town off I-35. Segcity is in Austio and also San Antonio.

Here is also a picture of us in front to the State Capitol Building. You can see that there was essentially no crowd.

San Antonio has a minor league team: San Antonio Missions: Home

As does San Angelo, about a three hour drive NW of the Alamo City: San Angelo Colts

As far as eating: La Fogata La Fogata is one of our favorites for good mexican, and have one, yes just one, of the rita's, I've seen grown men get silly after two. And for BBQ you have to go to Rudy's Rudy's "Country Store" & Bar-B-Q

Don't forget the swimsuits, head for the Guadalupe river and find a tubing outfitter, spend the day floating down the river.

Another cave in the area that is a lot less commercial, but still very beautiful is "Cave Without a Name" outside of Boerne, well worth the half-hour drive. cavewithoutaname.com

I also recommend staying off the interstates and sticking to the backroads through the real Texas. Hiway 281 heading north fron San Antonio will take you through some cool little towns all the way to DFW with a short drive east to Waco. While you're in Waco, don't miss the Dr. Pepper Museum and the Texas Rangers (as in the Lone Ranger) Museum. They also have a nice little zoo there.

As everyone else has said, feel free to make contact when you're in the area for further tips and advice.

I flew into Lubbuck several years ago with a buddy where we met up with another buddy that lived in Iraan, TX. We drove south about 3 hours from Lubbock and then spent a week in that part of Texas just camping and fishing. 2 things stick out in my head about that trip:

1) I encountered the most polite drivers I've ever seen. They'd actually pull over and let you pass if you came up on them from behind, even though the roads were straight and there were no hills, so it wasn't necessary. People around here would never think about pulling over and letting faster traffic by, no matter how many people are piled up behind them. And the rolling hills of southern Indiana are not an easy place to pass a slow vehicle.

2) The area was pretty much a desert. The weather was beautiful (early spring), but everything was brown and dead. We rented canoes from a guy to canoe down (I think) the South Llano River. It was in the 80's. The guy couldn't believe we were going canoeing on such a cold day.
