If you want scenic, definitely take Rt1 from Boston. Just can't be in a rush.

Stay out of "potland" it's a freak show down there.. Bar harbor, Freeport, Ogunquit, if your want things to do. I live in Coburn Gore Maine which is remote, when I want seafood and to see people instead of moose and bears I go to the above towns a few times a year.

Thanks for all the recommendations. We won't have enough time to do everything, but I feel confident we will enjoy all that we get to do, especially eating lots of lobstah. I hope all the locals will enjoy my southern accent, ya'll. LOL

95/295 to 3 and catch 1 in Belfast. Enjoy your trip. If you go back, remember to check flights into Portland. That will eliminate what will be the least enjoyable part up your week.

We road tripped across Maine last year. We loved Bar Harbor. I even liked the whale watching. The White House in Jonesboro was a nice roadside find. We got lost on a 30 mile long logging road that I would be reluctant to take my F150 on let alone my Mustang. We loved it and can't wait to go back.

Most people up here are pretty friendly, small business owners are well aware that out of state visitors bring money with them and spend it here, we are thankful for that because unlike other states if we don't make money in the nice weather it will be a very rough winter for a lot of people.

Enjoy..

I have heard that Maine folks (Mainiacs?) are super nice. Looking forward to the hospitality.

Especially if you spend all kinds of money................

So if driving from Boston with limited vac. time, you'll probably want to head right to Augusta, that must be around a 4hr drive, then from there to Bah Habah, that's probably around another 5hr of driving, then if you're taking rte 3 east from Augusta (State capital) you'll be going by lake St. State Park, 4 mi. from me, blow your horn and I'll wave. Halfway to Bah Habah, there's the new one of kind Bucksport bridge that you have go over, I've heard it has an elevator to the top of one of the bridge pillars where there is suppose to be a great view, might want to check that out, also make sure you try a Moxie.
