I'm looking at a used B7500 at the local dealer. It has a MMM, turf tires, 1065hrs, 2001 year model. It was a one owner tractor owned by an older gentleman who just traded it for a new BX. The salesman said they had sold him the tractor originally, and he did his own maintenance, so they didn't know it's history beyond that.

It appears to be in good shape overall, but I noticed that the HST and hydraulic filters were still painted factory grey as if they had never been changed. The engine oil filter had been changed and had an hour/date marked on it. Assuming the filters and fluid had never been changed in the trans, how much damage could have been done? What should I look for to determine what kind of shape the trans/hydraulic are in? What would be a reasonable price? (they are asking $7500). I might go ahead and test drive it, work it a little and see how things feel. I could test the transmission line pressures and hydraulic pressure, but I'm not sure how much that would tell me.

Any insight would be great, thanks.

I think the pricing is a little high I paid around $1000.00 more for a B7500 from a dealer with a FEL / 54 MMM with 450 hours . The dealer did a full service before it was delivered as part of the deal .

The tractor I bought also had grey filters but they were not original ( receipts were provided with the 50 and 200 hour service) . When the dealer I bought the tractor from did the service all the filters were white . There is a old thread with this same discussion about grey , white , and factory painted filters .

I will say that I have enjoyed the tractor and am happy with my decision to buy a B series and stayed with in my budget .

Thanks for the info, I'll see if I can find more info on the grey filters. If they have been replaced even a couple times I wouldn't be worried about it.

Can the MMM be locked in the up position so you can use the 3pt hitch without the mower moving up and down?

FWIW...after shopping/looking for a couple of years...I found a 1995 B1700 w/ FEL for just over $5k with 475 hrs....got it on a similar trade in with a nearby dealer (who had done the up to date service) it's like new otherwise...
The only thing that showed any real wear is the front tires indicating a lot of loader work...

What I would ask about is how many of the hours on the B7500 were using ground engaging implements...if it was only used for mowing I think it is probably a good machine but I think it is overpriced by about $2K+... if it has no FEL

I feel like it probably was used only for mowing, it had neither a drawbar or a toplink, and the 3pt hitch looked like it had seen very little use (other than lifting the mmm of course.) If it was indeed well maintained, 1,000hrs on the clock wouldn't worry me at all. I've seen various B-series with 5,000+ hrs and still going strong.

On our B7500 there are two places in the front of the 60" deck (one on each side right under the loader arm brackets) where you can put a pin in and lock the deck up. Works pretty well.

If the fiter is painted the same gray as the chasis. Its the origional one, and I'd steer clear. There are no gray replacment filters.

Yea, I stand corrected on that. Some of them are gray, however they are distinguishable from the chasis gray.
