Valvoline premium synthetic

PS.. here's a web page from someone who documented the issue with his model B. Similar to what I was talking about.

PS.. since 06, napa/wix went BACK to using the paper pleated media again.. :) ( at one time the napa and wix filters for that # were also a floss design.. and changed to pleated.. that's when we allis owners noticed the drastic drop in oil pressure.. and why we went looking for a real floss media filter.. )

NAPA 1101 OIL FILTER

still a myth eh?

Explain this statement? i guess i don't under stand your logic then.

sure.. you can replace any oil filter with any other one of the exact same specifications.. my point was that 99% of the cross #'s for those specific filters DO NOT bring you to a filter of the exact specifications.. IE.. it's DIFFICULT to find a CORRECT replacement filter other than buying each cross number and cutting it open or testing it by risking low oil pressure on your sweet and shiney restored old tractor. IE.. most of us just buy what works...

Never said it was a myth i stated i have not heard about this because obviously it's before my time and that i tried researching it on the web.

thanks for the link that OP is unreal :confused2:

In your case of this situation yes i agree it's very application specific.

seems low eh.. don't worry.. quite normal.. :) but that's why when you get a 'wrong' filter and half of it disappears.. that we specific application owners get a little bent. truly a situation where 'any' cross will not do.. but only crosses made substantially the same way the engine is expecting it to be.. :)

yep.. I didn't think we were disagreeing, but rather agreeing.. .. it's just real application specific. probably only a literal 'handfull' of models of tractor fall into this category. Other than allis's.. I bet the MH pony does as well.. uses a similar version of the N62 block a Allis G does.. would guess same filter too, as it uses same manifold and things like crank.. etc..

So is it safe to say that FRAM is no longer the only application? and that WIX now has a PN that works? according to your link?

no, unfortunately.. re my previous post with the link:

add to that there is at least one other manufacturer that IS making them.. as Isaid.. order only / bulk order or it's cost prohibitive. as far as Iknow.. as of my last oil change on my allis.. the napa / wix is still not a suitable replacement. for a time in 06 and a lil later on they went back to the floss media for a bit.. but then changed again.. :(

Ok the article says the Napa gold 7011 works...

"It appears WIX Filter Company has now "seen the light" as far as their "new" design 51101 (also NAPA 1101) filter goes for use on bypass oil lubricating systems as used on vintage Allis Chalmers B tractors (and others). The WIX website now lists the 51101 part number as "not found". The current part number is WIX 57011, which lists this filter as a bypass type and applicable to Allis Chalmers and others. The equivalent NAPA part number is 7011. I asked about that filter at my local NAPA store and was advised that the NAPA 1101 has been "superceded" by the new 7011 and that the Allis Chalmers Model B was the correct application. The NAPA website has not yet been updated to reflect this change. The 7011 filter looks like this:"

"My conclusion:
There is essentially no difference between the new NAPA 7011 and the Fram C-159 filters"

ok but your saying since this article was written they switched back?

yep.. some time in the last 4 years they must have figured out it was easy to save a nickle somewhere and go back. when that happened I went back to buying fram .. havn't checked back as of last year... no reason to buy a filter to check when the fram works fine... the unfortunate part is that it is such a limited application I don't see filter makers continuing to cater to a realitively small user base. kinda scarry. guess when that happens I will go out and spend a couple hundred bucks and buy a few cases of filters before they are NLA. many of us have talked about doing that 'when the time comes'
