Sounds like a great idea. I'd be concerned however that contact with the tire might change the flavor just a tad. You'd need to check, probably daily, to make sure there was no such deterioration. Of course you wouldn't want the wheels to become unbalanced so it would be necessary to check both sides (daily).

Let us know how it goes.

And, I am impressed if you drank all 20 half oz sample shots at one sitting. I trust you walked or got a ride home.

The Mrs and I shared each sample, and we were with my son and his wife, so we had a designated driver. I had a double shot of the big winner when the samples were done, so I HAD to get a ride....walking was a little dicey at that point!

I thought over that idea of keeping whiskey in the tires. It just won't work. Everyone knows, whiskey won't keep.

Blasphemy! Whiskey? Apparently you aren't from Kentucky......Whiskey is what Irishmen and Yankees drink. We're VERY specific here in the Bluegrass. It's BOURBON. True bourbon comes ONLY from a select region of Kentucky. It's the high lime content spring water, along with our specially made charred oak barrels that give bourbon it's special color, aroma, and most important....it's distinctive taste.

I'm not far from the Jim Beam distillery, closer yet to the Makers Mark distillery, and a stones throw from Wild Turkey's home. We're very close to the northern end of the Bourbon Trail. "Back in the day", Kentucky's economy was based on Bourbon whiskey, Burley tobacco, and the horse racing industry. There's a great deal of tourism built around those 3 to this day.

You forgot the most important part... By mandated law, Bourbon has to have at least 51% corn in the mash at the beginning of the fermentation process. That is the true difference between Bourbon and Whiskey. If you don't have 51% corn, you can't label the product as a Bourbon. Not to say that the items you mention above don't play a huge factor in the taste, color and aroma! :thumbsup:

True Bourbon also uses a bit of the previous batch as a starter for the NEXT batch.

Coincidence or what....The Mrs and I are headed to Hodgenville next week to a reunion.

It looks like it is likely to be WWF for me. i found a local fuel oil/lubricant seller who will charge me 120 dollars for a ~205 L drum (55 gallons). Just about 2 bucks per gallon, delivered to my farm

That's not terrible as I have to do no mixing whatsoever. I might either DIY or get my tire-guy to fill it up.

The choice is entirely up to you.

I chose Rimguard because I have a Koi pond that I work near, and if any of the above mentioned 'tire fills' were to leak into my pond, I would rather have water(which is not an option in my area), or Rimguard. Anything else is guaranteed to give me a massive fishkill.

I also chose the Rimguard because of the added weight......Can't get a lot of anything in the small tires on my Massey GC2400.

I used WWF in my old Cub Cadet for years.......sprung a leak at some point and didn't notice it right away(as I'm a truck driver and only get home on weekends).

I like the beet juice for the reasons I stated earlier:

1). Non Toxic

2) inhibits rust

3)doesn't reqiure tubes

4) tire can be plugged

5) weighs more than other 'non-toxic' ballast

I too have seen 20 year old tractors with CACI in the wheels with no problems.
I've also seen 4 year old tractors getting the rims replaced because of a couple thorns that went undetected.

Pros and Cons on both sides............just gotta choose your poison..........(so to speak).

i'd check out that rimguard and fish. AA local molasis plant had a spill of some desugarad material and it went into the retention pond next to them that is always populated with fream.. killed every one of em.. fast.. B.O.D. went weird just like an algea bloom had happened..

Interesting thought.

Also, though methanol in a significant concentration would surely hurt fish, the amount of methanol in a single rear tire is not more than about 25 gallons at 30%. A 25 gallon spill of methanol near even a small "pond" of 1000 gallons would be highly diluted. As I recall soil bacteria metabolize it very quickly anyway so unclear any would get into the pond unless the tractor was parked in the pond.

yep.. most soils are gonna suck up whatever was spilt fast.. unless, like you mention, you are parked on the bank and it lets go.. etc.

That is always a concern to pond owners.............

Will take every bit of oxygen out of a pond in a heartbeat.
