Oh, I don't think it makes much difference when a thread revives.....some threads are timeless. Anything with 36 !! pages must have something of value - or at least we hope so. The question of "if" and "what substance" to put into or onto your tractor tires is probably as relevant now as it has been for years....if not decades.
Lots of debate and few conclusions makes it fun to explore.

No, no, no!!! That DIY formula with soap and ammonia is fine for cleaning windshields but would freeze solid at about the same 32 degrees as water. Methanol is the key ingredient of WWF that makes it appropriate in below freezing conditions for use as ballast in tractor tires. IIRC, WWF must be roughly 30% methanol to drop the freezing point to -10 or 20 degrees F.
