Vicon RV 1601 or Vermeer Rebel 5500

Is there a brand you guys would suggest over the Vermeer? Or, is it basically down to taste when you start picking between the major brands?

Would the 5610's be enough to push a 6x4 or 6x5 Vermeer baler, or would that be pushing it a little too much when the chamber gets full and pulling up an incline?

the 605 M requires 100hp, the 604M requires 80hp, the 665 rancher requires 75hp where as the 5420 rebel requires 50hp, if you stay wihtin those requirements you should be just fine, ...like a buddy of mine has said, "if it aint green or yellow, I dont run it!"

you have a nh tractor have you looked at nh balers they are the easiest to run if you get a twine baler with auto wrap

I had a vermeer , 503I ran several thousand bales thru it , no problems only 1 belt laceing. sold it went to JD 457 several thousand thru it no problems yet. when I say thousand I mean close to 8 vermeer , 10 JD. Vermeer or JD for me only. Ive said it b4 and say it again vermeer had the first BIG round baler. You cant beat xperience! I bought the JD because I got a better deal on the 457 then compareable vermeer and I like JD equipement. just my 0.02cts.

The key is matching the baler to your tractor. I think you will find that most of the used 604 & 605 balers have been turned more that the 5500 Rebel you ar looking at. In purchasing a used baler it is about the value of the baler available. NH, MF/AGCO, JD & Vermeer all make good balers. New Holland is the most sold round baler and the other 3 are all about the same in numbers.
At 700 bales a year the 5500 Rebel baler will rust out before you wear it out. The Pickup will go 20,000 to 40,000 bale before a cam track rebuild. Sand wears any pickup out quicker. The Hay DR
