Virginia Garage and House - Let the process begin.

The little garage. 22 deep x 26 width. Wish I could have gone 24 deep but the design of the house really did not allow this change. The garage will have a half bath to keep my grandkids outside and is close to the garage. This was cheaper to do it this way than to include a half bath in the garage. I will have water, but I would have needed to install a pump to move the sewage up and over towards the house.

Siding is complete except for shake style that has not yet delivered.

Boy, some women never get it. I think most of us guys on TBN are drooling over the big garage, and the house it just a place to sleep at night

Thanks Guys. Monday is the inspection day for HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Framing. If all gets approval, insulation and drywall are soon to follow. I was watching today and the guys had a big rain barrel(?) that they were pumping into the house. Sure enough they were pressurizing the plumbing. They have to fill it up to the top of the roof vents!!!!! I had always used air pressure and if it held for a period of time you were good. I did not know you had to even do the venting. I guess there is no room for error doing it that way to check for leaks. They said this was the practice for the last 15 years.

My wife is good on the garage because as she told a nosey friend one time: All I have to do is look out in the garage and I know where to find my husband. That was over 30 years ago and she still likes me most days.

Project is coming along great. We have always used air to pressure test the Drain Waste and Vent plumbing. Water is to messy when its time to let it out. Its not so bad using water for testing in new construction. It can get pretty ugly using water for testing in a remodel or addition if you happen to spring a leak over existing finished space. When is your expected completion date? Looks like if you had bumped the depth of the garage out 2' it would of given you alittle break in the wall to help block the electrical panels away alittle. It also looks like you had plenty of room on your ridge height to do so, it doesn't look like it would have went above the house ridge. But with a Monster shop as you have who cares about the garage.:licking:

Yeah, isn't that crazy ?? I am surprised the drain pipes down in the crawl don't tear away from their straps with all that weight/pressure from above.

They did my test/inspection in the start of winter, and the next day was going to be a deep freeze, so the plumber came back out that night in the dark, and made sure everything was emptied out OK.

It did make a big mess when they overfilled it. I guess they have to top it off.

We should be in the house in September. I feel pretty good about hitting it, especially since I was reminded yesterday that it will be a Year in July that this started. We put the house on the market. Sold it in a week and a half. Had to move out in two weeks to the man cave since they wanted it asap and vacation that had been planned that would eat up two weeks. I told her that we could have a house built in maybe 3 months. That might have worked in a planned neighborhood or at the man cave, but she wanted nothing to do with living so far out of town. I am glad we have lived out here during this time as it cured me of any thoughts that we should have built right here. The man cave did have a separate 200 AMP disconnect and a septic box that has never been used. I had planned in advance and even had plans. I really think we ended up getting the best of both worlds and it is going to make her happy. Since my buddy is buying it I will still have some ties to the place. I did most of the work here, all the HVAC (except charging the lines), plumbing, electrical, grading. The framing of the garage was done by a contractor as he built the shell. The new house and garage has been fun to sit back and watch.

Kind of nice to get some cars moved into the new garage.

We got 3 cars in place. You can plan on paper what you want to fit, but until the lifts were in place, you really are not sure how things are going to fit.
Plenty of room overhead. Jeep truck still has one more level it can be raised before the roof hits.

Half of the shop is still open. I can fit 9 cars in one side with the lifts.

This MGB (1964) was built for my wife's 40th. It has been In storage and has not seen the light of day for at least 10 years. When we took the car out of what is pretty much a bag (it also had a car cover on it), it was in great shape. To have been restored 15 years ago the paint and interior looked factory fresh.

I love the steel wheels instead of the wires. This was built in 1963 but was titled as a 1964. Wife now wants to get it on the road since the kids are grown up and car seats are not an issue.
