Hi Spence,

That's a nifty map you've made up....far better than any atlas I've seen. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

You'll be passing through NY on I-90. Actually, you'll be driving past my workplace....I work on the State Office Campus just off I-90. Let me know when you pass through. We can try to get together for a quick lunch if time is of the essence or if you have a few hours to spare and don't mind traveling to Cambridge I'm only about 50 minutes away from the I-90/I-787 Interchange.

Keep me posted of your itinerary in this thread or through PM and we'll try to get together. That holds for you as well Garry.

Almost missed this thread. Motherboard went bad in my new computer. I back now and on-line after 2 weeks of phone politics. I live in Fairfield Vt. not far from Pete. Would like to get together to see you all if it works out. My suger house should be done by then, wood all cut, tanks installed!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Been a busy summer! Nothing much in Fairfied but we're the dairy capital of Vt. Of course we do have Chester A. Arthurs birthplace!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif One of the best unknown presidents we ever had. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Take care!

Nice link. Looks like our little town (Tunbridge) comes in second with 5 bridges.

Tunbridge is a NICE little town, with arguably one of the best aggie fairs in the state! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

O.K. Fellas!

I said I'd let all you know when we finalized our schedule. Well, here it is - we're leaving on Saturday, October 4th and will be in Windsor, Canada that night. On Sunday the 5th, we head over to the Niagra Falls/Buffalo area and stay there Sunday night and Monday night. On Tuesday the 7th, we'll head over to the Lake George area and stay there the rest of the week. We'll leave there on Saturday morning, the 11th, and go to Smuggler's Notch where we stay the entire week through the 18th. From there we'll head east to Portland on the 18th and the 19th, then down to Boston for 2 or 3 days, and then we start heading west and home.

Von - I'm hoping we can work it out to stop on our way by on Tuesday the 7th. I know your antique store is closed on Tuesday's, but maybe we could meet for coffee at some place close by. Unless there are any other guys that want to meet on the 7th in and around Von's area, why don't you PM me Von, and let me know if something can be worked out. Don't change any plans you might have on our account. If we can't meet, well, at least we tried. Some other time then. Let me know!

Boondox - I hope we can work something out while we're in the Smuggler's Notch area. There are 3 other TBN'ers that have indicated that they might join us if we get something worked out. 1) Rancar, who may not be able to get up there but we can hope, 2) Alan40 who said he'd like to try because he's fairly close to you (have you two met before?), and 3) Sugarmaker mentioned something in that other thread about the Shelburne Museum. There's also Rowski, who said we could look him up if we got up in his area, but I got the feeling that he's a little fatrher away.

So what do you think? We going to pull something off? Like I said earlier, I don't want you, or anyone, going to any extra trouble for us, so maybe the best bet is to just meet somewhere for "beverages" or lunch or a nice little dinner. My wife said she'd probably pass so that we "boys" could play together, so I better plan on keeping it to a reasonable time frame. But I'm open for suggestions.

If you feel more comfortable talking about this privately, go ahead and send me a PM.

Thanks for considering this, guys! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif It would be fun if we all could meet. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

P.S. Oops! I forgot to mention Hazmat. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif He's over north of Boston and he had replied with some really good tips about things to see and do in and around Boston. I don't know how close he is to the area around Burlington, but maybe he could get up there too!

Alan and Derek (Rowski) are really close as is Ed (Corm) whom we haven't heard from yet. I'll email him and see if he's interested. And Smugglers is pretty much right in the middle of all of us!

My wife, who is really hoping other wives show up so she isn't forced to listen to a bunch of guys talk tractors, got the propane tank filled up for us. The dogs are all excited. We're ready!

By the way, right down the hill from Smugglers are a few nice small antique shops, and a little further (10 miles?) between Johnson and Jeffersonville is a huge old barn packed with three levels of antiques. You should have a couple hours worth of fun there!

Foliage turns at higher altitudes first. This year is shaping up nicely, though between the altitude and wind I wouldn't be surprised if Smuggs was in Stick Season (bare branches) around the time you arrive. The valleys and foothills should still be fine, though.

I'll rattle Corm and see what he's up to.

That sounds great Pete! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'll let you work on these other guys, and we'll see if we can get this thing to come together.

And tell your wife that I'll pass on her hopes to my wife. Sounds like everybody could win on this deal!

Thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for posting the dates Garry. Still don't know what my plans are for that week. Still trying to set up the dates when I'll be renting my dozer. I'll be taking time off to clear out hedgerows and will likely not be able to make it if this is the time I'm clearing out hedgerows. However, I'm not far from you when you'll be in Lake George. This is peak foliage season the week you'll be there. Would like to try to get together with you those few days you'll be in Lake George.....maybe on that Saturday you'll be leaving. There's a quaint breakfast place called Sutton's on Rt. 9 just south of Great Escape amusement park. Could meet you there let's say about 8 AM....I'll bring my home and barn renovation pics.....we can chat further on tractors and life as a public civil servant......and whatever else. What do you say?

When you get to Vermont, be careful over there. Recent report (see web link below) has a Bigfoot on the loose. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Bob,

That sounds great! I think that'll work just fine. I'll PM you with our cell phone number that we'll have with us so we'll be able to stay in contact while we're traveling. I'm not sure where we'll be staying when we're in the Lake George area, but as soon as I firm it up, I'll let you know. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi folks! Thanks for the email 'rattle' Pete! I've been pretty busy lately and haven't had much time to keep up with TBN. Yes, Holly and I would be up for joining you folks! I'm guessing that you are maybe planning something on Sat, Oct 17th? I will watch and keep up with this thread for details. As it gets a little closer, we'll get in touch to see how we can help.

Looking forward to meeting some new friends!

Friday Oct 17th???

Ed, good to hear from you! I think Golfgar is leaving on the 18th (18th is a Saturday, BTW), so I was wondering if the afternoon of Friday the 17th would work for folks? Say 3pm till whenever? I'll lay in a case of my favorite micro-brew and a few steaks.

My bride will be working late every other day that week, but Friday afternoon and all day Saturday are open for her. (But I think our out of towners will be leaving Sat.) Let me know.

Re: Friday Oct 17th???

17th sounds good Pete. Is it all right to bring my boys along or is this all adult? Fine with me any way you want to do it. Just asking before I show up with them.
Let me know if you need anyting.
Glad to hear from Ed also been awhile.

Re: Friday Oct 17th???

Hi Pete!

Yes, we'll be heading out on the 18th, so Friday would be better.

I think we're going to make this work.! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Would there be anything that you would like me to bring from Wisconsin? I don't think it would be a good idea for me to bring any food products with us. I wouldn't want to be blamed for causing food poisoning in half of Vermont!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif But I could always ship something ahead of time if you wanted something.

Before the end of this week, I'll PM you our cell phone number so you can get a hold of me while we're traveling the week before. Of course, you'd always be able to contact us at Smuggler's Notch too.

You ARE going to have Clementine available for pictures too, aren't you?? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

<font color="red">I have attached a map showing the route I will be taking to the first job in Springfield MA.

Boy Spencer, you will be passing about 5-10 min away from me on the way to mass. I am just a bit off of I90, an exit, or two before you hit the Mass pike.

Bob,

I just confirmed that we'll be staying at the Holiday Inn Turf for the few days we'll be in the Lake George area. It's right on Rte. 9 just near the amusement park you mentioned. We saw that on a map of the area. We'd be leaving that Saturday, the 11th, so breakfast would work out perfectly!

So we're in striking distance! Like I said earlier, I'll PM you our cell phone number so you can contact us while we're traveling in case something comes up. There wouldn't be any other way. If we want to keep this simple when we meet, I'll just wear my TBN hat until you walk up to me and laugh! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That sounds good Garry. PM me with your cell phone number. In turn I'll PM you my day and evening (home) phone numbers. Either way, we will get hold of each other and agree upon a time for breakfast. My wife Judy may join us as well. Sutton's is a nice low key place with great food. It may be a bit busy though seeing that is Columbus Day weekend and all the leaf peepers from NYC and Long Island will be visiting for the weekend. But, anyway, I have a sense of what you look like from your mug shot and do wear the TBN hat. Stand outside the front doors and I'll keep an eye out for it and you. Thanks.

Re: Friday Oct 17th???

Sounds good to me (17th). Sounds like a great time... great time of the year, good brew and good folk. I could really use an afternoon off from work. My wife likes the idea of commiserating with other wifes about the TBN addiction. If you need something... more brew, more grill stuff, etc.... drop me a line.

BTW I will need directions.... I know your behind the Trapp's.

Geez, someday I'll learn how to read a calendar.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Friday sounds good, although we won't be able to make it much before 6:00. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough for us to make the trip on our Harley's. We're looking forward to a good time! See you on the Friday, the 17th ( /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)!

Re: Friday Oct 17th???

Well, we have 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 lambs and about 30 chickens. Human youngsters would fit right in! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif And yes, Clementine will be attending! She might have her chains on by then; the weatherman is talking of snow this coming Wednesday night! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Sounds like the size of the group is going to outpace the ability of our little grill to keep up. With just Tamara and myself, we bought one of those little round things that look like R2D2. Do any of you locals have a larger grill?

Do we need a rainy day backup plan? This will be great! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
