Same here in Canada Wagtail. You can get a loaded HD pickup in the States for $56,000 and they are 80 to 90 here for the same thing.
Even the half tons. A Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn is over $80,000 where I am.
Perhaps you can clear up a question that I have had for some time.
I have a summer home in Nova Scotia, so I see the crazy CAD vehicle prices all the time.
Wouldn't it be worth your time to take a trip South, buy a vehicle, and drive it back over the border?
As I understand it, you would have to pay the 5% GST (or HST depending on your province), but that would still seem less expensive.
You could shop different US dealers on the internet to get the best pricing too.
It would seem that this could be done with used rust free vehicles from the South and Southwest US as well.
I have a nice 1997 GMC 2500 4x4 Suburban (registered in US.) that I bought used on E-Bay, in New Mexico, 11 years ago.
I store it in MA each winter, and drive it up to NS each summer. People are amazed at it's rust free condition, but of course, it has never seen salt.
Ah ha... I did forget to factor in that a CAD is currently worth only about 77 cents US, but still, it seems there is a major difference.
