Hi,
Im right in the beginning stages of a move from right to left coast and was thinking of selling my 24d (not moving it) and getting a 33d for my new place (which is bigger) out here. After reading thru some of the posts here I get the feeling that the local dealers (Brim, etc) aren't going to be intereted in dealing at all or very much. Is my perception correct? How are they in general to deal w/?

I can only speak for the Brim salesman at the Mt. Vernon office. He was very helpful in putting together a package for me and wasn't pushy by any means. I did take that price and search the internet for the best price. After getting a significantly better price ($4000), I offered to split the difference with him and the best he could do was a couple hundred bucks.
He did call back a week later and when the wife said I already made my purchase she said he was surprised. She reminded him of my offer and he indicated he thought I was only trying to get a better deal...I believe she told him at that point that I was TRYING TO GET A BETTER DEAL.
I bet if another guy went in with the same offer, he might sharpen his pencil a little better.
What part of WA are you moving to?

Hi Larry,
Thanx very much for the quick reply. The guy you spoke w/ sounds alot like the Deere dealer I got a quote from in NH. He was surprised when I bought my NH for 7000K less...he just couldn't figure it out.

I was planning to visit the Mt Vernon dealership this w/e probably. Right now Im looking at houses in Snohomish and Monroe but leaning towards Snohomish.

As of this moment I've not moved anything out here exc myself and what little I need to get by. Summer is when the big move takes place. So, as I see it if I can't get a good deal here I can either keep my 24 and trailer it out or sell my 24 and stop by a dealer on the way out and pick up a 33d. If I can I'd like to work a deal locally but if that not possible then at least I have some alternatives.

Thanx again jimg

I bought my TC40 from Brim when they had an office in Burlington. The price was ok, nothing earth shattering. Based on my experience, their parts guys go above and beyond. They have even gone so far as to fax me pages of the shop manual to help me diagnose a problem. I'm just west of Olympia and if I call for something by 2 or 3pm it's at my door the next day.

Thats about like my dealer in NH. I got a reasonable deal but they were very good on support...nothing like you expreienced but reasonably good and willing to help.

As I said, Im going to visit the Mt Vernon office Sat morning after I stop for a bit in Monroe. I plan to price a 33 w/ loader, box blade, brush mower and something(s) for tillage. Ill report back w my findings then.

Hey Jim! Sorry to hear your going! Are you moving because of work, or because you want a bigger tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You might want to check out the dealers in Oregon. There are lots of dealers (of all colors) in the outlying areas of Portland. They seemed to be more competitive down there than the WA state dealers. I found much better prices where there was more density of dealers.

Hi Ernie,
No, Ive not looked at them really. When I was shopping for my 24 I did look at them then and wasnt that impressed. At the time they didnt have any hydros (at all or in my hp range...cant recall which) and also the dealer network in NH wasnt good at all. Im just looking at NH here b/c its what I have now...no other reason really.
