Wacky Warning Labels

Even as a guy with 9.7 fingers, i find these labels amusing ! Much like the first picture of the guy in the skidsteer....... you don't really need to be able to read to get the point of the warning label.

I've always liked this one myself. Its absurd but it points out a serious problem with all these signs. When we try to warn everyone about everything the few really important messages "bridge out" get lost with all the other crap.

As an electrician, I get a kick out of this one
"Warning. Improper installation by unqualified personnel may result in property damage or fire"
Does this mean improper installation by qualified personnel will have different results?

I think almost anything you buy these days qualifies for the wacky warning label award...

"This product is known to cause cancer in the State of California..."

Even Christmas lights cause cancer in California now. Up until a few days ago, I didn't know that. But, since I'm in Illinois, I'm OK, I suppose.

If I lived in California, I'd get out of there quick... everything will kill you there, it's a dangerous place.

I bought a half dozen 6 foot extension cords for Christmas light decorations. There was a tag that said "handling the cord is known to cause lead poisoning in the state of California, wash hands thoroughly after handling".

I went to high school with a guy that was stealing gas from a motorcycle at night. He checked to see how much fuel it had with a lighter. He burned his face pretty bad, sued for big money, and won.

I agre with XLR.. the judge should be stripped of title and sent to jail for awarding money on that case.

i have an employee that also used a cig lighter to check gas in his bike.. burned all the hair from his face and set his bike on fire. The guy pulling in behind him at the gas station put the guy and the bike out with his fire extinguisher he kept in his car.. guy got lucky.. no burns.. and bike survived.. lost the lighter thi=ough.. no idea where it went! ( I think this employee is a darwin candidate waiting to happen... we do road construction.. he was playing with a road flar one day.. kicking it around like a hockey puck.. caught his pants and shoe on fire... )

My favorite was on one of those folding windshield sunscreens that read "REMOVE BEFORE DRIVING". Duh...

We actually received several rolls of residential carpet that said:

"Install Yarn Side UP"

I'm serious when I say this but I'm having a hard time understanding why so many peopple think this is a "Wacky Warning". Would anyone care to elaborate?

I don't think its really that THAT particular warning is wacky, but more that there are generally 638 warning labels on everything we buy today. Perhaps an indication that none of us have any common sense anymore?? Or so the manufacturers' attorneys think........


Even getting out of bed in the morning has an inherant danger. How long till our beds have that warning label on them?
