Last time I helped someone with transferring a bunch of files off an old windows computer with no USB was to pull the drive and put it in a hard drive caddy and attached it to another computer as an additional drive and downloaded all the desired files (also backed up a bunch of stuff just in case).

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'v several "adapters" to go from whatever interface the HD has to USB, https://www.walmart.com/ip/USB-2-0-...MIxsGiy--_6AIVX4NaBR3YFAT5EAQYBCABEgIaRfD_BwE for example. It works but may be slow.

Lots of this is Greek to me but slow is OK...

The picture transfer is a wish... in the scheme of things not very consequential.

I do appreciate the info and it seems like the longer I wait the more problematic.

A couple of years ago I started up the Windows98 to email out several wedding pictures... worked like a charm.

Guess I was naïve thinking I could continue doing the same in the future.

Both Outlook and Outlook express have email waiting to send out.

I also thought I could log on to my web based email but no luck.

Why is it I can do Google searches on my Window 98 machine but can't log onto an email provider?

I don't know, but I could envision that your email provider no longer supports the very old version of Outlook and Outlook Express that you are running on that machine.

Do you know whether your email provider has a URL that can be used to access your email directly from a browser? Perhaps that method would still work on the old machine.

ATT and Yahoo

Maybe I should try to get a Gmail account since Google Search works?

If you are trying to use Outlook or Outlook Express...check the properties on the account and check the assigned ports for incoming and outgoing mail...most ISPs have changed to more secure ports over the last several years...your ISP should furnish the port numbers...

Try updating the browser to a later version...the browser security is a possible reason you can not access a web mail page...

Also some browsers just won't support older operating systems

That is why I stated "a later version"...there is no way the latest versions of any of the popular browsers will run on 98 or XP etc., etc...
