I'm not important but all they got... heck I'm paid by the hour.

My ace in the hole is I was part of the design team for this building 28 years ago... everyone else has long ago retired and moved far away...only one person has been with the organization longer and she is in the business office... let's hear it for Institutional Knowledge.

My wife works for a financial institution. One of her areas of knowledge is ATM stocking. She said from everything they've seen so far, there hasn't been any runs on the ATMs, except as soon as people started getting their tax returns on debit cards, they sit there and cash them in ASAP. They've only had a few people come in and try and withdraw very large sums of cash due to the virus panic. They've been able to talk sense into most of them.

Another fun habit we have is as soon as tax refunds start coming, notice all the paper license plates in the area. People buy a lot of cars at tax return time. Just start looking around, they're everywhere!

Sadly true... some just don't understand 'rainy day' funds.

It still seems odd that new branches are totally shuttered... and the sign in the door says where the nearest one is and it is also closed.

There branches have tellers behind plexiglass to a lot of separation...

I realize many never set foot in a bank but I bet they don't run a small business... larger business has couriers and there is the old night deposit but several have taken them out... something about fireworks in the night deposit plays havoc balancing the deposits.

Not sure about next month... did find online that Wells offers banking my mail so that might work...

Internet slowed to a crawl 2 days ago... super slow... didn't put it together but now I think I know what happened... a homeless camp RV... the same one I reported on fire last week at 4:10 am burned to the ground 2 days ago and it was parked right under the main line for the entire neighborhood... ATT, Comcast, etc... all had mobilized to string new cable... the high tension power lines at the top were far enough removed... that's my guess because it is much better now.

One of my banks is web only, no branches at all. Another (USAA), similar, few, if any branches or even ATMs and most of those are on bases that many people can no longer enter. I decided to try a couple of local banks for different reasons. They've all gone underground out of cowardice, but have decent websites.

All of my banking is done by DD and e-bill payment. If I ever get a paper check, I can scan it and deposit it via web, then simply destroy the check if I choose.

Me too. Can’t remember when the last time I stepped into a proper bank.

I don't understand why anybody would get a big enough tax return to buy a car... or even to put a down payment on one. All that they are doing is writing an interest free loan to the government. Yet if you owe them a large amount they will certainly tack on the interest.

You keep calling people cowards. Why don't you go volunteer at a hospital or some other community service facility where you have to come into close contact with the public all day long?

I don't really worry about myself getting the virus. Heck, I'm 62 If I get and and die, no big deal.
What I hate is, my son is a Paramedic and I'm sure sooner,or later he is going to be infected, Not know it and bring it home to his family
