If you had 5-6 places to buy groceries within a 20 minute walk from your house, would you go more frequently?

Probably would. I would sell my soul for fresh fruit, veggies and salad fixings. So tired of old, sub-par food at 3 times the price. Twice a Summer, we get a produce truck up from Washington State loaded with 5 day old stuff. Nice.

That's what you get when you live in Lower Uncton!:D
I'm surprised there are any stores there as I've never heard of that location. Is that location south of Upper Uncton?

Yes, but it is a LONG way south of Upper Uncton. So far south that it could be considered a whole different place. Not even near that upper place. :)

I ask, because I just did a google search of "grocery stores near me" and limited the search to 5 miles.....

I got tired of counting at 75. :confused2:

Granted, not all of them are large. They considered Dollar General a grocery store. But there's a ton of places to get groceries here. So, it makes it too convenient to think about stocking your house, when you can just stop in somewhere close to home anytime you're running low.

I've had this conversation with my wife many times. I like to keep stocked up. When I take something out of the pantry, I write it on the list for the next time we go to the store, regardless of how many are left in the pantry. She, on the other hand, will wait until the last bar of soap is the size of a nickel before she buys more.

With this current situation, she's coming around to my way of thinking. It's much easier to go to the store just twice a month VS twice a week.

You must live close or in a city then Moss . . . If you did the same search on my area you would fine 1 gas station/little convenience store (think beer/soda pop/cigs), about 2 miles away, then the only large grocery store is 7-8 miles away. you would have to do a 25 mile search to get anymore grocery type stores.

Move down to WA or OR Doofy, plenty of the fruit, veggies, salad fixings here. :licking:

The Wife is working on a 5 year plan to head South, probably South-West with no snow... ever. :D

The closest "anything" is 9 miles away. There is a small grocery store w/ gas station and a Dollar General. You have to go 23 miles for anything significant.

About 20 years ago we had a decent restaurant in our town. Now, every once in awhile, someone tries to make a go of opening one back up. We eat at home unless we have to travel for medical appointments.
