WAKE UP!

I have had my tractor and brush cutter about 4 weeks now without hitting anything yet. Thanks for the stories. It gives me better ideas what to look out for.

Guess one of the loudest things was me yelling when I was clearing a path last fall to deer stand. Headed toward the creek and unknowingly ran over a yellow jackets nest built underground. Trying to outrun them in the woods on and watch where your going in something I'm getting to old for.

Today was the first day mowing with my MX 5 rotary. mowed one small field of about 5 acres to get things started. It went pretty much without incident. Although, these stories were on my mind as I mowed. The closest I came to anything nasty was discovering an iron rake, buried teeth down, after I was done. I have to say, mowing is a complete blast. Why is it so much fun?

And a sincere thank you to this forum and all its contributors. It's made my experience a lot easier, and no doubt safer.

Good question. I always enjoyed it myself; brush hogging, finish mower, cutting hay . . . it's all enjoyable.

Possible answer: If you've ever run an "Amish Bush Hog", known in other areas as a scythe or maybe a sickle, you know how much cutting rough stuff resembles work. Running the power cutter, in whatever form, lets you look at what you've accomplished in a pretty short time and think "Man, am I ever glad God invented tractors! This thing is just to wonderful to be a soley human endeavor."
